Has anyone lost or gained weight being a vegaterian?
Answers:
You can lose but you must stay active and watch those complex carbs...
Definately can lose weight, but if you are eating lots of complet carbohydrates and just sitting around, you can gain weight easily.
I have done both, but I don't know if they were related to directly being a vegetraiain. They were more related to excersize habits.
I think I am an anomaly.
I have not lost or gained weight. I think this is probably because I didn't become vegetarian for health reasons, and I was educated enough to find replacement food instead of eating Doritos for the last 6 years.
:)
I really don't know. I've been a vegeterian since I was 5 and have gained 10 punds a year since then.
i myself want to become a vegetarian and am on the way. but my brother's gf has been a vegan for 2 years and she has lost weight.
I was a vegetarian my entire life until I was 19 and I only stopped because I was the skinniest man (183cm and 60kg)in the world (self proclaimed). Since then, I've added weight-lifting to my hobbies and seen a massive turn-around (88kg). People from school gasp in amazement when I stop them in the street and some can't put a face to me!!!
So I can vouch for the opposite.
One of the other things I have noticed is that I have had several skin problems since my dietary change to meat and I very rarely got sick, now I get sick with everyone else... weird.
i've been a veggie for my whole life, and i am at a perfectly healthy weight (5'6", 125 lbs). my friend became a veggie a couple years ago and i don't think she lost or gained weight. it really depends on the person.
Some people might gain weight when turning vegetarian, but loose it again. In the beginning you have to be careful about not eating too many dairy products with a high fat content in combination with too many carbs. It is simply a learning process of how to include more vegetables into the daily menu, for example using zucchini in the lasagne instead of lasagne sheets.
I was hooked on cheese toast for some time and gained quite some weight in a short time, but went back to normal by including more tofu into my diet (I am vegan now)
Ready products like meat substitutes and veggie burgers also contain too much fat, so read the labels carefully or make your own burgers.
it depends on ur personal diet, for me i havnt put on any weight because i tend to eat more vegetables and beans etc and i didnt increase my carboyhydrate intake therefore i couldnt really put any weight on. You just have to be careful about carbohydrates because people tend to eat more when they are not eating meat which results in them gaining weight
Yes I have. I lost 20 lbs when I became vegan and veggie, but you need to know it is all what you eat. You can not eat fruit all the time, bread and high carb foods. That is where people go wrong. The idea is to get a well balanced diet and to get as much protein as possible in a day. But no more than 24 grams in a three hour period. You need to eat a b complex as a supp. Be sure you understand your blood type. Some types need the meat protein. Look into that before you became a veggie. I fully support your choice I just want what is best for your body...
