I think i'm turning into a vegeterian?!

Question:

I think i'm turning into a vegeterian?

The other day we were talking about free range eggs (they're the ones i make everyone get) and then she started saying well the pigs get treated just as bad as the caged chickens would...and there's bacon in your food.

I felt so bad that i couldn't eat... And the other day i had a piece of steak and it was really big and it made me feel sick because of how big it was..... i didn't even attempt to eat it all, but before i would have eaten it all.

I would like to be a vegeterian but i dont think i can just stop, and i want to help the animals etc but i also see it as an inconvenience if i become a vegeterian.

What can i do to help me become one easily enough and slowly?

i do realised how many things come from animals, so i do have my facts straight. thats why i said VEGETERIAN not VEGAN! so you should get your facts straight. the main reason is just the cruelty the animals go through.

I love veggies also. But I do partake in meat sparingly, just eat more veggies but eat less meat.. You dont have to set down to a giantic steak.. huge chunks of chicken or fish. Maybe a couple of bites and just narrow it down till you know that meat is off your menu. Taper off slowly. Me? I could do without meat if it werent for hubby. Lots of times on the weekend we eat a veggie pizza. I add mushrooms. Doesnt bother me in the least that we dont eat meat. Moderation is the key.

Go to http://www.goveg.com/order.asp and get a Free Vegetarian Starter kit. the site, goveg, com, is also filled with really great info. Work your way slowly into it. Cut out beef first, and work your way from there. Some people are able to drop meat over night, most just ween themselves off.

Read, read, read! Get a good Vegetarian Cookbook. I personally LOVE Good Housekeepings Vegetarian Meals. The recipies are simple and pretty quick with a great variety.

Also think about getting Being Vegetarian for Dummies. It's a good all around crash course and loaded with lots of info.

Truthfully, it's not that hard at all to being a vegetarian. Unless you tell them, most of your friends won't even notice that you've made the switch to a meatless diet. Mine didn't, and that's even after hosting a few dinner parties of my own!

You can email me with any questions if you like. switch.angel@gmail.com

i say you don't become one, just cut down. eat less steak, i can see how that would gross you out after that. just eat meat that wouldn't make you feel terrible, like maybe fast food or seafood? but becoming a full vegetarian is really grounding your tastebuds in my opinion.
live life, but limit it, you know?

Good for you! Keep trying! I am a vegetarian and I have been one on and off for a year. My health is getting very poor though, so that is why I keep going off. So make sure that you eat lots of fruits and veggies (they really are important, I'm becoming malnutrition), umm... Well, there are things like BocaBurgers, where they have fake meat. Soy milk... takes a while to get used to, though...

check out peta2.com (I think that's it?) for more information. They show you the cruelties of what really goes on in places, except some people believe they make it up, but that's beyond the point. About a month ago I signed up to get a vegetarian starter kit to help me get started again and this time the right way. So maybe sign up for one of those, it'll take you a while to receive, though, and just keep thinking about the animals.

Good luck! ?

you dont have to become a vegetarian slowly.
i mean, if you dont like the act of killing animals to eat, then don't eat it.
i think that eggs should be allowed. youre not killing anything by eating eggs. if you want to do it slowly, then keep eating eggs, and get your protein through the egg whites.

the hardest part is figuring out what to eat everyday because your not used to not having meat. look up recipes that involve beans. mexican foods use a lot of beans instead of beef. the beans give you lots of protein, so its just as nutritious. my moms a vegetarian, so we have different vegetarian food everyday. we have pizza, tacos with beans, pasta, indian food, chinese food (vegetable lo mein), potatoes, vegetables, anything really, theres a lot out there....

oh and Morning Star is a brand that makes fake meat. if you miss eating the meat, then try morning star. my favorite thing is make chili the way you normally would, except add the morning star "beef" instead, and i swear it tastes exactly the same

hope this helps!

dont be retarded why give up something that is healthy, if you give up meat you are giving up something from the four food groups which gives you a broad range of nutrients to your body, you can abuse a vegan diet just like a meat diet dont eat meats with a lot of fat eat fish and chicken without the skin

Do you even realize how many products come from animals? No milk, cheese, fat, eggs, make-up(from whales), the list goes on and on. Find a source and get the real facts, please.

Maybe you should watch this video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=...

It's great that you're thinking of going vegetarian & I wish you all the best in doing so! =)
