Hey!
I went from vegerarian to vegan over a year ago and have never looked back! if you crave for some non-vegan foods there are alternatives:
-chocolate
Green&Blacks black, Maya gold, Mint chocolate are vegan and delicious. Most dark chocolate is vegan. Plamil does loads of vegan chocolates (inc chocolate spread)
-butter on toast
plenty of vegan alternatives for butter. Try Pure spread with soya or sunflower
-yogurt
Alpro soya does delicious probiotic soya yogurts, not to mention their chocolate dessert!
-curry
curries in shops and restaurants will contain all kind of nasty things, like ground beetles (for colouring) etc... not joking! Make your own curry.
Go to your local health food/vegan/organic shop and look out for products like "cheezly" or "sheeze" fake cheese, vegan pates, hoummus, seitan (that stuff's great) and tofu (my favourite is "Taifun" organic smoked tofu with almonds and sesame seeds. Yummy! Delicious in sandwiches or on its own).
In supermarkets, look in the freezer section for "Realeat" pieces and mince, they're great!
Some delicious dishes that are easy to make at home: risotto (with peppers, courgettes, black olives, red kidney beans...), stir-fries, pasta, fruit&nut loaf... hey, why don't you just contact me if you want more info!
P.S: Vegetarian haggis is actually vegan and i like it with my neeps and tatties (no butter though)
Start eatin all that again and dont be a vegan if ur missing all that stuff!!!
not bloody much!!
stop being a vegan and eat properly. those stories you heard are just scare mongering.
Just stop being a vegan and get back to enjoying proper food.
perhaps you need to think about whether or not it's worth being Vegan. it's not healthy to cut everything out of your diet. The reason you're missing/craving yogurt/dairy etc...probably means that your body needs it. Speak to your GP about the best way to approach becoming a vegan and the supplements you should take.
No offence love, but if you are a vegan surely you should know what to eat by now!
Stamps
i cant help you, but it sounds as if you're not much enjoying being a vegan.
do you really believe all these stories about the manufacturing processes of foods, if you do, fair enough, but just be objective about certain rumours you hear!
Try bacon. Idiot
The vegan diet can be dangerous for children to persue.
(not saying you are one)
You need to make sure you get the right balance of food groups and all your vitamins.
The vegan society website is a good place to look for all the info you need :)
I say do you look like a wizzened up old turnip then, old girl..
Technically you can eat other vegans as they rank below vegetables in the food pyramid. Their blood is soy-based and they are pretty much devoid of any vitamins. You would do more harm eating a riveta!
Life's too short, why torture yourself?
Perhaps you feel that because it's your life you can do what you like... in that case enjoy being a vegan... (tthhhe ffooooddd wiilll onnlllyy taasstttee alll tthhee betterrr laatterr onnnn).
Please don't take what I said for serious - I'm an idiot!
there are loads of dairy free goodies out there. most big supermarkets have a free from range.
and then there's all the health food shops like holland and barrett they stock vegan food
You only heard it if you believe those things you cant eat nothing. Get the fact first.
Nothing wrong with a bit of cow's blood. I had rare fillet last night. Yum yum
what you heard is all untrue. the only reason cows milk isnt vegetarian is because milk contains rennet which is in effect part of the cows stomach which comes out through milking. It does not hurt the cow. And they do not use bones to make cane sugar. IT is all done through factories which use metal equipment. if there are omega vitamins in specialist vegan food sthen it is definately from plant oils
you can make vegan curries, and there is a special vegan chocolate called carob. its nice enough. you can also get vegan butter made from soya milk, and you can make your own deep fat fried chips using vegetable oil (fine for vegans).
try these

It's not possible to be a vegan or a vegetarian as there are microscopic organisms on your tongue that you're swallowing all the time. Microscopic organisms that you swallow, that die when they hit your stomach acid.
Go back to planet Vega and get a copy of "Healthy Eating for Vegans on Planet Earth".
Don't see how you can claim to be vegan when you know so little. Cane sugar comes from Sugar Cane not animal bones. Also, why can't you eat curry? And how would cows blood touch milk? Whis is irrelevant as vegans don't drink milk. Ands its obvious that the omega in vegan food is not fish oil as then vegans would not be able to eat it. You really need to find out a lot more about being a vegan so that you make sure you get all the nutrients you need.
any kind of fish
look into organic RAW milk and dairy. Its humane, causes no harm to the animal, and no, no blood touches the milk. You can enjoy raw butter, and cheese as well. See my lengthy post on the previous question asked by Nice guy for more details. Perhaps vegan is too strict for your dietary needs. You can get vegan chocolate at whole food stores. Use raw, organic sugar-no animal involvement at all. Get better sources for your research-you have alot of misinformation.
If you have not educated yourself about the vegan lifestyle you could seriously damage your health. Are you a vegan because you wish to be morally superior to the omnivores with their insatiable blood lust or because you honestly think it is the best diet for you?
- Dark chocolate has no dairy content, look for suitable for vegans on pack.
- Fully vegetarian margerine is just as nice on toast.
- You can get soya milk based yogurts (no cow involved)
- Curry! Most Indians are vegetarians, go to Indian vegetarian restaurants and ask about vegan dishs (if in London try Drummond Street near Euston Station). Or learn to cook your own.
- most chips are cooked in vegetable oil, check with your local chippys and find one that doesn't cook fish or battered sausages in the same fryer.
- don't believe everything you read on the internet
Why not take a step back and just decide not to eat things that have faces (yes prawns do have faces) until you have learnt the ropes.
-
Plain Noodles, Wheat A bix and oat a bix, dry cereal, dry fruit, rice, yeast, bread, vegetables and home made chips.
If i were you i would see a doctor first before trying any of these foods.
i'd answer you but my hands are all messy from the rack of ribs i just ate, and my mouth is full of chocolate!!
IF YOU MISS EATING STUFF EAT IT!!! wait til yer old to give up the stuff u love... ull be miserable anyways
Trill. Its a very nice bird food for budgies and parrots.
Only refined white sugar is processed with bone char. Unrefined sugar is ok for vegans.
The best chocolate doesn't contain any milk or milk products. There are several kinds available.
I love Soy Garden buttery spread. It's a THOUSAND times better than butter.
There is also soy yogurt.
Have you asked your Chip Shop? It's very likely they're frying in veggie oil and it's ok for you. I enjoyed chips when I was on Dublin years back.
Omega from flax or hemp is vegan. Omega from salmon is, well, not. You'll have to read the packages. By the way, plant based omega is superior to fish based.
Contrary to what Beebs said, cows do die for milk and cheese. Calves are killed and their stomache contents (rennet) are used to make cheese. Dairy cows don't have a retirement fund. The are slaughtered the same as beef cows when they are not producing "enough" milk.
In my opinion, the dairy industry is even more cruel that the beef industry. Beef cows don't live a life of repeated forced impregnation. Then have their babies yanked away from them just hours after birth. Very often having to hear the cries of their babies slow agonizing death.
There are more delicious vegetarian curries than I can even begin to explain. I'm quite fond of Japanese curries and Thai curries as well as Indian.
I've been vegan my whole life and for anyone ignorant about it this is what I eat:
soya milk, veggie burgers, veggie sausages, fake ham, fake mince, bread, bagels, chips, curry, vegetable spread, soya yogurt, chocolate ...... basically I eat every single thing that every body else eats, only it's 100% vegan. I don't take omega supplements cuz I get it all from eating healthy food. (A great one if you want to though is Udo's oil)
To sum it up, I probably eat more foods than non-vegan people eat, and I am neither under- nor over-weight, I don't have a single health problem, and I'm not deficient in anything.
(the last time I had a blood test (when i was pregnant) the doctor actually said my red cell count and iron levels were extremely high).
try booja booja chocolate you can get this from www.ableandcole.com
cane sugar comes from sugar cane which is a plant.
vegans dont drink cows milk so its not your concern there is much more intresting milks at the health shop such as almond milk.delicious, rice milk, oat milk nutmilks and various soya milks. as a vegan there is much more to eat. you must eat nuts, lentils, and seeds, and wholegrain as compulsory.explore and enjoy.
