What is the best way to keep lettuce from turning brown in the fridge?!

Question:

What is the best way to keep lettuce from turning brown in the fridge?

I am not a vegetarian, but thought I would ask my question here since most of you probably use a lot of lettuce!!

Answers:
wash it....make sure it is good and dry and put it into a lettuce keeper...if you don't have one then wrap in paper towel and put into a plastic bag

you will find that if you tear the leaves rather than cuttin them it will stop it going brown so quick

I am not certain, but I think that if you keep the temp at around 33 or 34 that helps. Also, buy undamaged lettuce, since it only browns around damage (due to oxygen and enzymes). You might desolve some vitamin c in water and spray the lettuce lightly, lightly wrap in paper towels and put in plastic bag before refrigerating.

If you don't put it in the fridge it will never turn brown there.

The only way to keep lettuce from turning brown in the fridge is to simply, eat it. (hahaha)

be sure and wash it and then press the water out on a paper towel then place in a plastic baggie and refrigerate and this will prolong the life of your lettuce

Keep lettuce in original plastic - tear (not cut) what you need and place the balance in the original plastic back in the refrigerator veggie keeper in the lower part of your refer.
