take a soy bean and roast them in a little bit of soy bean oil and roast until fry and crunchy. Flavors are added later and packaged.

Yeah, they're just roasted dried soya beans.
You can do the same with other beans too.
Look at ethnic markets and you'll find all sorts of bean snacks. I really like the roasted fava beans, they're really good. I can get them at nearly every Asian market in the snack area.
