Why some americans are tending to obesity?!

Question:

Why some americans are tending to obesity?

Answers:
Oh, so many reasons...

Generally, American portion sizes (in restaurants, in packed foods) are larger than they need to be. Most Americans eat past the point of satiety because they're simply given more food than they need.

We are also a lazy culture that gives in to fast food and nutrient-deficient convenience foods that provide too much saturated fat.

Most of us just don't care to educate themselves about proper nutrition, and we'll just let the T.V. and KFC ads think for us.

There is also a growing movement against eating disordered thinking and body image issues, which is fine in its own right...but people become so concerned with not adhering to this "pressure to be thin" that they overdo it. There is a difference between eating healthy and eating too much, and many Americans just don't know it. Loving one's self and accepting one's body is cool as long as you establish some boundaries.

All in all, we are a culture of over-consumption. That Texas attitude that "bigger is better" has gone too far, and we're convinced that we deserve and need more more MORE.

In addition to all of these dietary fallacies, we're also physically lazy. Most people fear working out and don't realize the benefits of simple exercise like walking.

because the meat and milk supply is pumped full of growth hormones, and as the people consume it, they ingest these hormones. It is also the reason girls are developing at younger ages. That, along with the fact that commercial foods are full of unhealthy fats, preservatives, chemicals, etc. The body simply does not know how to process it all, and hangs on to it in fat cells.

Because they eat too much and too much of the wrong type of foods. The portions in the restaurants in the U.S. are ridiculous & are as much at fault as the people who eat it all.

The electronic age is not helping. Sitting in front of the television, video games and computers leads to a lack of physical activity.

eating too much fastfood(full blown portions at that)
eating too much junk food.....
still eating lots of any kind of fatty food....

the same reason there are some nonamerican fat people.

there just is. besides the fact that Americans have the most unhealthy food at the end of their driveway for barely $5. it's nothing. it's easy to be fat.

but what does that have to do with being a veg?

Some????????? Most Americans are tending to obesity.

They eat a lot of fast food and food containing refined sugar.

1. Portion sizes-
People here don't ration. They try to
use what their eye sees as moderation .

2. To much animal fat and dairy. It's too
hard for the body to break down. It
gets stored as fat.

3. Too many different sugars. On top of
sugar a product will also contain :
corn syrup, sugar alcohol, sucrose,
corn syrup solids, oat syrup, etc.
Often you will find four or five different
forms of sugar in one product.

4. lack of cardiovascular exercise

Personally, I think it's because we're such a calorie-oriented society. We're not told to eat natural, unprocessed foods, and stop eating when we're full; we're told to eat 2000 calories a day and leave the rest to fate.

Diet soda? It's good for you because it has 0 calories!
