Do true Vegetarians Crave meat?!
Do true Vegetarians Crave meat?
I've been a Vegetarian for about 4years now.....and when ever I get sick lately I crave meat....like a Big Mac.....Does any other Vegetarian have this prob...or maybe i'm not a true Veggie..
Answers:
You need iron and protein...usually when your body craves something you are lacking it.
You are probably a forced vegetarian. You probably aren't even allowed to eat meat.
You should go back to eating meat.
You can eat a Big Mac. I'm pretty sure that's not actually meat. :)
Nah... they do...
I was one for like 5 1/2 years
and I had that craving aswell
and those who tell you they dont
are liars... but pride will alwais overcome the hunger
I have known many vegeterians and its normal to have carnivorous cravings especially if you've grown up eating meat.
I have lots of vegetarian friends, and they all say that after a few months they forget what meat tastes like, so they don't even want it anymore.
You should buy some veggie burgers to curve the feeling. Morningstar, boca, tofurkey make good brands or veggie burgers. You may also crave the fries that go with it, so make yourself some fries.
I'm sure the cravings differ for each individual (I personally have no desire whatsoever to eat meat), but craving meat does not mean you are not a "true" vegetarian.
As long as you are following a vegetarian diet and lifestyle you are a vegetarian.
As a previous poster said though, perhaps you are craving something nutritionally from the meat when you are sick. Just make sure you are balancing your diet, and when you become sick increase your intake of what your body needs (exempli gratia zinc and whatnot).
My friend's sister was a vegetarian for 10 years and one day she just "craved the blood" (gross, right?). She gave into it and now she eats meat like a fiend. I don't see how someone who was vegetarian for that long could go make to eating so much meat, but to each his own, I guess.
i just became a vegetarian about a month ago and i have beein craving meat more than in my whole life...
Oh I know how that is, if that does happen just think of what happens to the animal that usually helps me. I grow up in a house where both my parents eat meat so...
Vegetarians can crave whatever they damn well want to. As long as you don't eat it, you're 100% veggie :)
Not this one.
yes do it do it
Nope.... No meat cravings...
And surprisingly... I finally kicked eggs and dairy as of March 1... and no cravings for that either!
Woo hoo!
dude if you dont eat meat then of course your a true veggie! yes i crave fish at times, but no i dont crave red meat or poultry. the main thing is just to make sure that your dont act on your craving, thats all. :)
I've been one for nearly three years. I miss pepperoni like crazy though. And ramen (traces of chicken in the broth . . . gaaah)
As long as you don't eat meat, you're good :D
You haven't eaten meat for 4 years Good!!! Then i would consider you a true vegetarian. I'm also a vegetarian and to tell you the truth i really don't crave meat but even when i wasn't a vegetarian i never liked it that much!!
I crave Big Macs also, but not necessarily meat. I think if they had veggie Big Macs all of use veggies would be in Heaven.
To all of the veggies, the person with the name of Mr Knowitall keeps coming in the veggie section and harassing us veggies.
Craving meat does not necessarily indicate a lack of any essential nutrient. I crave chocolate all the time, but I don't think my body's telling me that I need any more saturated fat or sugar.
Your cravings are probably just connected to the fact that you did at one time desire and eat meat. Pay attention to what *specifically* you're craving...is it the taste, or the texture maybe? The combination of a soft bun, crunchy lettuce, and a meat patty is largely a textural eating experience as well...which is why fake meats (Boca, MorningStar, etc.) can be good even if they don't taste exactly the same.
More than likely, you'll crave these things less and less as you go longer without eating them.
If you're really concerned, keep a few photos in your wallet showing a slaughtered animal or sick and abused animals crammed in a factory farm warehouse....or of cholesterol stuffed arteries from a medical website...Whip those out when the cravings strike, and it ought to be enough to curb them.
what is a true veggie? and no i have never craved meat.
nah, i never crave meat cuz i strongly believe in animal rights so i eat veggie burgers. try making your own big mac with veggie burgers! they are soooo good!
yea but i think it's just my stomach trying to trick me into eating meat, one time i was sick and i wanted chicken noddle soups, but i didn't eat it, i ate water noddle soup instead, good times
not at all, but I used to. Now I am repulsed by the whole concept of meat, not just from the animal cruelty issue but how unsanitary it is. I prefer not to eat something that has to be disinfected to kill off fecal matter. That just goes against my sensibilities. I can get by with a quick rinse of my homegrown veggies.
Of course you're a true vegetarian :)
When I first went vegetarian, I did crave meat and fish quite a bit. A few years later and armed with a lot more knowledge, I never crave it anymore. Same thing happened when I went vegan - I craved dairy for quite a while. Sometimes crave things like donuts, but generally I don't miss it.
