Best way to get veggies and fruits?!

Question:

Best way to get veggies and fruits?

For work we are doing eat well live well. Each day we have to strive for five fruits and/or veggies. This time of year they are expensive. Any good ideas of how to get five a day without costing me a fortune. Recipes are helpful also.

Answers:
Cheap fruits are usually oranges, bananas, apples. You can buy really cheap fruits and veggies at your local Asian markets. Always buy what is in season. Just try to make a fruit smoothie in the morning with soya milk. Try to drink one glass orange juice during the day. When it comes to veggies, you can carry w carrots and celery sticks with you and snack on them during the day. My favorite way to to eat veggies is to make a stir fry or a mega salad.

Buy what's in season, no need to get exotic or expensive stuff. Frozen is good too, and so is juice. Ah yes, 1/2 cup of marinara counts as a vegetable serving, even if it's made with fruits (tomatoes).

I just drank a Diet Mountain Dew, but I could have had a V8!

I purchased an inexpensive juicer (new in the box, from a thrift store for around 5 dollars) I juice carrots, celery, parsley, apple and cucumber, or beets, cabbage, celery and carrots. I do this a couple of times a day, and I feel great. I also do fresh pinapple and mango, or melons. Yummy, and a great way to supplement my pescatarian diet

If you buy fall veggies, you can buy large quantities at a time and save money. They also last a long time.

You can make hot dishes using frozen veggies..which are alot less expensive then fresh and just as good. For fruit, mix it up with different fruit salads.
