Soya Milk?
Why does soya milk smell so groose when you first open it? My 3 year old has been drinking this since she was a new born, and i still can't stand the smellof it. She need it because she is lactose and it is helping her gain weight.

It is an acquired taste. Even one brand of it tastes different than another brand. In my mind, it is best when flavored with vanilla or chocolate. I don't like the plain kind. Silk is my fav now , because Krogers and Meijers and Walmart carry it, but I used to like Edensoy...just not as easy to get that now...and Silk is in larger packages (1/2 gallon) vs Edensoy was in qt packages I think...
i've never found it to have a bad smell. are you sure it's not just the brand you're buying?
I do hope you are giving her non genetically modified soy. Google "roundup ready soy" for more info. Most soy in the US is genetically modified with all sorts of weird stuff, including scorpion venom (to make the crops resistant to pests) Genetically modified soy is accountable for most food allergies in the nation-causing people to develop allergies to wheat, the soy itself, corn, and other things.-it caused me to become allergic to all of those things, and more. Have you considered rice milk for her? Its much healthier, doesn't smell, and has more nutritional value. I am highly intollerant to commercial milk, but do just fine with raw milk and dairy.
I've heard soy protein isn't all it's cracked up to be. I've heard it is especial not good for babies. I forget why though. This was on NPR, maybe they have a posting about it on their sight. Maybe it smells bad because your body is rejecting it. It's like of like rotten meat smells bad so you won't eat it.
soy beans do not smell or taste good. They have been working on it for a long time and have achieved some pallatable products. They are all good nutritionally. Baby formula tends to smell worse than the soya milk in the dairy case. I use a vanilla lite(not artificial sugar) and the *th Continent tastes best to me. It is not good to get children into sweet milk, so if she drinks it, without flavor, let her, good.
In the West, we're not used to soy flavor. I have a friend at work who is from the Phillippines, and she enjoys her soymilk warm, freshly made. She likes the beaney tasting stuff, plain ol' soymilk, rather than the "Westernized" soy milk that has additives to cater to the Western palate. I don't like fresh, beaney soy milk, yuck.
It all boils down to what one is used to. If your daughter likes it, especially with no sugar added, good for her.
Silk soy milk tastes just like milk to me.
I guess you love it or hate it. As a child I had always hated cow's milk, and the day I tried soy milk I was hooked (now I'm a vegan). My mom, however, likes cow's milk and can't stand the smell or taste of soy milk.
