I need to make a vegan rolled fondant. Any suggestions?!?!?!

Question:

I need to make a vegan rolled fondant. Any suggestions?!?!?

Answers:
Here's a basic vegan fondant recipe that I got from a vegan bakery. It works quite well but assumes you are already familiar with candy and fondant making techniques (fondant is really just a type of candy). If you aren't you may wish to replace 1/4th cup of the sugar with 1/4th cup corn syrup to help prevent crystallization. You may also want to visit this link for more detailed instructions about how to make fondant.

http://www.candymaking.net/fondants.html...

2cups raw sugar
1 cup water
1/8th tsp cream of tartar

Using candy method bring ingredients to 238F. Finish as per fondant method.

You knead in any flavorings or colorings you desire when the fondant is cooled and almost pure white. You can freeze this type of fondant for up to 3 months; let it thaw and then re-knead it before rolling.

I am not sure you can do because Fondant recipes call for glycerin and gelatin.

There are lots of fondant recipes on the net but you have to get over the glycerin and gelatin hurdles. You may be able to use corn syrup and I have read there is a vegan gelatin made of agar agar.

* 1 cup light corn syrup
* 1 cup shortening
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract
* 2 pounds confectioners' sugar

DIRECTIONS

1. In a large bowl, stir together the shortening and corn syrup. Mix in the salt and vanilla flavoring, then gradually mix in the confectioners' sugar until it is a stiff dough. If you are using a stand mixer, use the dough hook attachment. Otherwise, knead by hand. If the dough is sticky, knead in more confectioners' sugar until it is smooth. Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
2. To use, roll out on a clean surface that has been dusted with confectioners' sugar until it is 1/8 inch thick or thinner if you can. Drape over frosted and chilled cakes and smooth the sides down, or cut into strips to make bows and other decorations.
