Question:

I would like to know something about spirulina.?

Answers:
Spirulina is a blue green algae. Spirulina is one of the most nutritious foods known to man containing antioxidants, phytonutrients, probiotics, and nutraceuticals. Spirulina is the best food source of protein, betacarotene, B Vitamins, minerals, chlorophyll, sulfolipids, glyco-lipids, super oxide dimustase, phycocyanin, enzymes, RNA, DNA, and supplies many nutrients that are lacking in most people's diets such as vitamin B12 and vitamin E especially for people who are on vegetarian. It also stimulates immune system to destroy invading disease organisms and carcinogens. Decreases cholesterol levels and helps to lower the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Is that something to do with sex?

It was the weight loss fad back in the '70's . A lot of people are allergic to it so it fell out of favor

Was one of the staple food of the ancient Aztecs, spirulina is rich in chlorophyll, protein, beta carotene, omega 3 fatty acids, minerals, enzymes and nucleic acids. (Mineral content depends upon the mineral content of the water it was grown in)
Toxins would be present ONLY if the growing medium contains toxins.
Freeze dried processed spirulina is the best way to go (not heat processing) since it is said to denature some of the toxins if any.
Spirulina is said to be the easiest "pond scum" to consume since it's cell walls are composed of mucopolysaccharides rather than indegestible cellulose.

it's an algae. There, now you know something about it.

Peace.
