Re: Pet food recall, glad I am vegetarian?!

Question:

Re: Pet food recall, glad I am vegetarian?

I wouldn't be surprised if the current pet food recall turns out to be due to tainted meat. The same animals are used for human consumption as are for cat and dog food. What do you think?

What does being a vegetarian have to do with pet food? Are you dipping your crab legs in alpo? You aren't a vegetarian so why are you trying to stir s**t with meat eaters? Stop lying and claiming to be a vegetarian when you like to eat fish! Stop coming here and trying to make vegetarian look idiotic to other meat eaters.
Some poor old people eat that stuff cause they can't afford better food. Why don't you think about the animals and maybe people that are getting sick and dying instead of being a snot nosed brat!!! Maybe your cow Abigale that you like to brag about got taken from the dairy cause they new she has mad cow and your drinking that stuff.

being vegetarian didn't help when people got sick from lettuce and spinach did it?

you're right.

Recently there was a recall of spinach. I was glad I was not a vegetarian.

HMMM.... I am really glad I'm a carnivore, because of the recent recalls of canteloupe and spinach. Well, at least I do support PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals)!

I agree with you, beebs! And I recall all these people stating, that pet food is more controlled than meat for humans. Great!
I am not amazed that the same bunch of people popped up with the same stereotype answers, as if meat eaters ate nothing but meat and exclusively meat, and vegetarians have to be blamed for everything.
However I do feel sorry for pets and pet owners. Cats and dogs are carnivores after all, so they don't really have a choice. We have several cats, and I mostly feed them fish, although I don't like the idea, but I don't think vegetarian pet food is good for pets.

Would you be surprised if it were due to tainted gluten, a protein that is used as as a meat substitute or meat extender? It comes from wheat. There was something wrong with the gluten they used.
What I think is that it is fine and good to be a vegetarian, but not so great to have a self-righteous attitude about it.

Please look at the label for pet food, there are atleast twenty different ingrediants listed (some plant)... it is not really even meat anymore. I'll agree that the meat they use in the food is just about as bad as the meat they feed mainstream people.

Update: They thing thought to be contaminated was the wheat gluten (vegetarian source)... sooo I guess the question sorta backfired on you.

it might be, the meat that they use in pet food is grade K...and we eat grade A! ew ! youd be better off trying to make your own pet food, but no one really has the time to do it.

Anything can get tainted but we are talking about low quality meat used for dog food here...no humans eat that so they run no more risk of illness then vegetarians do.

PS: I thought you don't eat meat because of severe allergies? You stated you are by force, not by choice.
