That's someone just recently gave up meat and they are trying vegetarianism. They are a newbie vegetarian. They don't know everything about vegetarianism.. a beginner.
They haven't made an absolute elimination of meat. They may go back to being a meat eater if they decide they don't like being a vegetarian!
Someone with commitment issues.
there is no such thing. If you eat meat, poulty or fish, you are not a vegatarian. If you eat no meat or poultry, but do eat fish, you are a pescavore. If you eat NO meat, poultry or fish, you are a vegetarian. If you use NO products from animals, including leather, wool, or cosmetics tested on animals, you are a vegan. There is no such thing as borderline. You either are, or you arent. Vegetarians take this lifestyle too seriously to have it done half @ssed
It's a term made up by someone pretending to be a vegetarian.
An omnivore posturing.
They should strictly say 'I eat a mainly vegetarian diet but will still eat meat and am therefore not a vegetarian' but that is quite a mouthful to say. Maybe they should say flexavore or infrequent meat eater!! Greenghost is our resident expert here though, his opinion is worth a shot!
they kind of do and kind of don't eat meat .... that is what it means to a vegetarian......
a lot of people think they are a vegetarian if they don't eat red meat---wrong
That it not a term which means anything and no.
what a great question, i guess borderline vegetarian is food that is not really vegetarian food but passed off as vegetarian food, so yea
no man, vegetarians don't eat meat, and a person who eats meat and vegg is not a vegetarian
From my experience.... "borderline vegetarian" is a term used by people to describe themselves when "they don't eat much meat." Which is actually no where near a vegetarian... but they like to think so. :)
On a side-note... My mother-in-law once told me at dinner, knowing that I was a vegetarian, that her main dish "only had a little chicken in it". A "borderline vegetarian" would have eaten it.
i do believe it is someone who only will eat white meat or just read meat or just poltry or maybe just fish basically it is someone who will only eat one kind of meat which is not a vegitarian
I think Andie is trying to make me mad by pointing this question out to me by talking behind my back
Before I kick-start my flamethrower I'll say that this is a term I've never heard before and I would compare it to being borderline pregnant. I think both Andrew and Goody2shoes are on the right track

What made me mad is that I just saw the most hypocritical answer I have ever seen! The total GALL of the person totally astonishes me!! I had to leave the answer box open and staring at me for two hours before I calmed down enough to turn my flamethrower down to low.
"There is no such thing as borderline. You either are, or you arent."
To see this line coming from that source is chutzpa at it's finest!! It's also sad; really, *really* sad the way you pretend outrage when you are at best one of the people that so many other answerers spoke of.
