Does Vegan mean you dont eat animals products or use or both?!

Question:

Does Vegan mean you dont eat animals products or use or both?

I ask this because most of the household products we use everyday contain some degree of animal product, like Soap contains animal fat. Cotton uses a glycerin based enamel to become more stain resistant. Discuss.

Answers:
the answer is both and then some..to be vegan is a total lifestyle..I use no cleaning products, cosmetics, etc that contain anything from an animal as well as any product this is tested on an animal..there are many sites including PETA who have done extensive investigations into which products are tested or contain any animal matter..they have a tiny booklet ..for compassionate living..and it lists all companies they do and don't..further they monitor the companies for any changes...they have made my life much easier ..but also educating yourself on all ingredients you begin to know which contain what ..and many products today also state on their labels..no animal ingredients and not tested on animals

yup thats what it means. being vegan is hardcore cause you gotta think and look at everything. you can't even drive a car, incase you might hurt or kill a nat.

yeah. i think they don't know what they're talking about. hey, whos' to say plants dont have feelings too, don't eat them either, then everyone will fall off the face of the earth
and dont give me that speel about how plants don't have nervous systems, because your not a plant so you cant speak for them!!!

both

Both. I'm a Vegitarian but you can never be a FULL Veggi or Vegan because everything has egg in it, sadly. But it means both

true vegans don't use soap containing animal fat. and most wear hemp(i think that's what it's called) as to avoid the cotton issue. they can't eat marshmallows or gummy bears.

"A vegan (one who practices veganism) does not consume or use animal products, notably meat, fish, poultry, eggs and dairy products."
You can find vegan items on the internet and I think at specialty supermarkets like Whole Foods.

You don't eat them, use them, support the companies that do, buy from companies that do animal testing.

Buy soap that is vegetable based, organic, cruelty free products are available.

Vegetarian - Does not eat meat or fish or eat/use products with animal by products.
Piscetarian - Does not eat meat, but will eat fish.
Vegan - Does not eat meat or fish or eat/use products with animal by products. Also will not eat products from animals (eggs, milk, cheese etc)
Fruitarian - Does not eat meat or fish or eat/use products with animal by products. Also will not eat products from animals (eggs, milk, cheese etc). Also will only eat fruit & veg that has stopped growing (fallen apples etc).

Most products are available nowadays for vegetarians including soap, cheese, sausages, and many more.

Try it sometime, you might just learn to like it.

Slim.

Vegan's do not eat anything with a face, or use any product from anything with a face i.e. milk, eggs, cheese etc. Vegan's try to live in harmony with the earth, therefore they try not to wear leather or use items with animal products in them. If you shop at health food places they tend to have vegan friendly areas of their stores.

anything that has a face or anything that is bi-product of animal..vegan rarely breathe because the microbes in the air might be harmed in inhaled. but i guess they can have dreadlocks because that actually gives critters a new habitat to live...

"Veganism (also known as strict vegetarianism or pure vegetarianism), as defined by the Vegan Society, is "a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude―as far as is possible and practical―all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose."[1] A vegan (one who practices veganism) does not consume or use animal products, notably meat, fish, poultry, eggs and dairy products.[2] People become vegans for a variety of reasons, including ethical concerns for animal rights or the environment, as well as perceived health benefits and spiritual or religious concerns.'

I avoid the issue by making everything homemade, from soap, shampoo to hair gel, cleansers, toothpaste, mouthwash, etc. Vegetable glycerine is available as a substitute. There are vegan substitutes for everything, pretty much.

A true vegan will not use thoes types of household cleaning ideams. The will not eat meat or seafood and dairy. The will not also eat produces like jell-o beacause it contains produces made with animal. Jello have ground up animal bones in it
