Welcome to the rare breed of humans that actually give a ****. Just keep doing your thing. If you know in your heart that you're doing the right thing, then keep it up. I know it's hard when so many people just go along with other, more toxic lifestyles because it's easier. Lead by example, perhaps others will come around, and if not, feel proud of yourself for not contributing to a problem. And congrats for taking care of yourself, that's an important thing that so may people also neglect!

dont worry... whenever there in a sick bed dieing go and laugh in their face and say i told u so!! lol jk just give it some time and they will come to u when they see that what there doing to the environment is affectin them personaly.

Well, some of us actually care about the environment, animals, etc. If others chose to be selfish, that's their problem.

I'm the tree-hugger amoung my friends too, none of them care about the environment or animal welfare as much as I do. But that doesn't mean they disagree with me on those issues either. But I'm still the only vegetarian amoung all my friends.

To find people who are interested in and care about the same things you do, try volunteering somewhere related to your interests. There, you meet people that you would never meet otherwise.

You just have to stick with your beliefs and not ever criticize the non Tree Huggers, no matter what. It will eventually help them see he rightness of your way of doing things.
WTG for being a youngster who cares!
I was in the Ecology Club in high school in 1976....guess how large our membership was? LOL
Been an Old Hippy, a Granola, and now a Tree Hugger.
hang in there!
Good luck

You could try to give them presents of your shampoos and soaps, and maybe a little brochure on why it is so great for the environment. Educate them, like you were.

consider yourself lucky, im the only vegitarian in our intire school...

welcome to the rare breed! there are way too many people that couldent care less about what we think, so we just gotta do our own thing and not worry about ticking anybody off. my friends go and make rocket bottles full of chemecals and shoot them at bees, it could be worse, it could be better, dont try to convince your friends that they're wrong, in some time mabe they'll see it your way. (ive already gotten my friend hooked on veggie burgers lol :p)

Some cities have local chapters of vegetarian societies - the members meet sometimes at veggie restaurants to have dinner and socialize - I've never been but it seems like a good way to meet other like minded people. I'd suggest Googling "vegetarian" and the name of your city or town.

Sweetie, sometimes you have to follow your own bliss. But you should also accept that you can't force your choices on others, and that reasonable compromise is the best approach. You don't have to surrender a healthy lifestyle in order to share with friends and acquaintances. You also should realize that as you grow and mature, your circle of friends and acquaintances will change. You should find others who think like you in time, and you'll choose to spend more of your time interacting with them. If you're fortunate enough to go to college, you may even discover a campus group or club dedicated to the principles you wish to live your life by. Your biggest challenge is to be patient with those who don't agree with you on every little detail. That does not make them unworthy of kindness and respect. Again, reasonable compromise is the best approach.

im the same way,
i don't have solution.

you never know what impact you have on people..it is tough to stand alone on issues but you made this decision and act on it ..so you are tough!!..My sons had a hard time in school once in a while(not from their friends) but for the most part people respected their beliefs..people who do not respect yours are not your friends..I would just like to add..my younger sons girlfriends all but one become vegetarians and stayed that way till today..my older son met someone from school years later..a guy who told him ..you really influenced me ..I became a vegetarian and thanks...so hang in their ..you may be alone in school , but you are not alone..there are loads of us..go on line to teen vegetarian sites..and check out PETA for teens..

I'm not sure how old you are but the older you get the more people you will meet like yourself.

When my daughter was in Middle school last year she got teased a lot for being vegetarian. One kid even threw a chicken nugget at her. lol

But now that she's in high school it's almost like a complete turnaround! Kids are thinking more for themselves and I haven't heard her mention being teased even once. She even has a vegetarian boyfriend. :o)

My 12 year old veggie daughter has the same problem. She just makes friends with regular girls, and share her enthusiasm for tree hugging, animal rights, and other issues with me. She accepts her friends for who they are. She knows of no other veggies in her school of 950 students. Pretty sad isnt it? You can email her if you like.

SCREW THEM !u don't need them, it's kool that you're in to something [a lot] more important than putting a s*** load of hairspray so your hair doesn't look like s***
have u tried explaining to them how harmful it is to the environment?u should and if u've already have, and it comes down to where they start freaking out about the damn situation with global warming blame it on the 1's that didn't listen

i don't give a rat's hairy sweaty @.ss what they think of me, i'll continue on believing on what i believe is right
