Questions about flax seed?!
Questions about flax seed?
What is flax seed good for? What does it do for your body? And what can I put it in besides peanut butter? (Not the flax oil capsules, the seeds)
Answers:
Since vegetarians don't consume fish, flax is one of the best ways to get omega-3 (other than hempseed).
Pulse the flax seeds in a food processor or blender to break open the indigestible shell. Sprinkle them on your oatmeal, add them to smoothies, sprinkle them over salads, etc.
you can't eat the seeds as it is
maybe grind it up and put it in bread
it can be pressed to make oil
or turned into powder and use it as flour
you can buy these things at walmart
All i know is that flax seed is high in fiber, its a good source of Omega-3 (the good fat), and it has a descent amount of antioxidants and potassium. I don't know what it is good to put in, but there is this cereal called Flax Plus (look for it in your organic section at your grocery store) that taste a lot like Raisin Bran. The one I buy also has pumpkin seeds in it. It is wonderful with silk vanilla soymilk.
If you ever get something in your eye that you can not get out, peel back your eyelid and place a flax seed there before you roll it back. The flax seed will stick onto the object. Close your eyes and relax until you feel something at the corner of your eye. Wipe the object there away, carefully, with a soft tissue.
Flax seed is good for digestion because of these same properties.Try sprinkling them in a salad.
Sprinkle it in smoothies, on oatmeal, applesauce, cold cereal, yogurt, and anything else you can think of. Flaxseeds are good because they provide omega-3 fatty acids. You can also get omega-3's from walnuts and hemp seeds.
Flax has lots of beneficial omega 3 oil. I use ground flax mixed with water as an egg substitute in baking
