Kellogg's Mini Wheats?
Is Kellogg's Mini Frosted Wheats considered vegetarian? The cereal contains gelatin, which is generally derived from animal products...does anyone know if this gelatin is plant based? Thanks.

As others have stated the Kellogg's isn't veggie. You can make your own frosted mini-wheat's though!
Buy the generic un-frosted ones (check the label but they're normally veggie safe). Powder some raw sugar using a blender/food processor/coffee grinder etc. and make it into a *thick* icing using a little vanilla and/or water. Drizzle the icing over the cereal and then immediately dump the drizzled cereal into a large bag and shake to evenly distribute the glaze. Turn the glazed cereal out onto parchment paper or cookie racks until the sugar fully dries (usually under an hour). Et Voila, frosted cereal that's veggie safe

Gelatin is no longer made from animal byproducts anymore because they got sued for it. I think it comes from vegetable fat now.
Frosted mini wheats are parve(Kosher designation) which means the gelatin is from a vegetable source not a meat source.
To my knowledge it is not a vegetarian based gelatin (such as agar agar). I know I don't buy it for that reason. It's similar to the frosting on pop tarts.
I have found some off brands of frosted wheats that do not list gelatin in their ingredient list, so check them out.
Just buy regular shredded wheats and put whatever sweetner you use on them. (cheaper too).
Gelatin is an animal by-product. Pectin is similar and is derived of plants.
No gelatin is plant based. Gelatin is gelatin..period. Nothing plant based would be listed as gelatin. No, they are not vegetarian friendly.
yes it is a vegetairian food item there ios no meat on it ........it may contain stuff that comes form animals but that doesn't mean that its isnt a vegetarian food

I think Frosted Mini Wheats is the non-veg food that broke my heart. Chicken, bacon... fine, take it, but it was a sad day when I lost my mini wheats.

But I wont kill an animal to eat its flesh, so I see no reason to kill one to eat its skin an bones.
The only version I ever found without gelatin is in the Organic food section.
