There is also this stuff called RiceMellow, which is a fluff. Ask your local health food store about it.
Vegetarian freaks are what gross me out. Marshmallows are almost totally plant materials.....Get over it.
??????????????
How would I have guessed you are from S.CA?
get a life down there
Marshamallows are not made from lard (animal fat,) they are made from gelatin, which is made from animal hooves and bones.
I don't blame you for not allowing your body to become a graveyard for my friends. Marshmallow creme is OK for vegetarians, but I've not yet found a legit vegie marshmallow.
Kosher gelatin is made from salmon bones, so don't let people talk you into it.
BEWARE: There is a recipe on this page that purports to be a vegan-marshmallow, but it was written by an ignorant moron, so avoid ANYTHING with gelatin in it if you are trying to stay clean.
It is the gelatin that makes it non veg (animal bones and skin.)
A direct link for you.

This is a great site where I buy several things I cannot find in stores near me. Because you are in California, you are probably near stores that carry them. Try any local health-food or vegetarian store.
You can go here http://www.happycow.net/ and find all the vegetarian stores and restaurants near you. The stores will possibly carry them.
:)
http://www.veganessentials.com/... often has these marshmallows in the clearance section for less than $1 because they are an *irregular* shape.
So worth it. You can also buy donuts and a ton of other stuff.
:)
Check with your local organic food store or all natural grocer. We have a place here in Florida called Wild Oates. They may carry them there.
I don't think there is animal fat in marshmallows, but there is egg whites, not vegan at all. I never heard of vegan marshmallows, but you can make your own here's a recipe ( without egg whites):
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/3 cup confectioners sugar
1 envelope unflavored gelatin
1/3 cup water
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Sift the cornstarch and confectioners sugar into a bowl. Lightly grease an 8x8-inch square baking pan and sprinkle 1 tablespoon of the cornstarch-and-sugar mixture into it. Tilt the pan to coat the sides and the bottom. Leave any excess in the pan.
Sprinkle the gelatin into the water in a small saucepan and let soak for five minutes. Add the granulated sugar and stir over low heat until the gelatin and sugar dissolve.
In the large bowl of an electric mixer, combine the gelatin mixture, corn syrup, salt and vanilla and beat for 15 minutes on high speed, until peaks form.
Spread the fluffy mixture in the prepared pan and smooth the top. Leave for two hours or until set.
With a wet knife, cut the marshmallow mixture into quarters and loosen around the edges. Sprinkle the remaining cornstarch-and-sugar mixture on a baking sheet and invert the marshmallow blocks onto it. Cut each quarter into nine pieces and roll each one in the starch and sugar.
Place the marshmallows on a cake rack covered with paper towels and let them stand over night to dry the surface slightly. Store airtight; the marshmallows will keep for a month.
That is the most pathetic thing I have ever heard in my life...
Try making it yourself using cornflour. it requires lot of patience and right weather.
Where in southern California. There is a place called Clarks Nutrition. There are stores in Rancho Mirage, Loma Linda and Riverside. Hope that helps.
