Do vegans know that wheat gluten is what is in that pet food?!

Question:

Do vegans know that wheat gluten is what is in that pet food?

Wheat gluten is what seitan is made from. Unless you make your own, I'd be concerned about the sourcing of the seitan.

I posted a similar question about this the day the recall was announced. I don't trust the sources of it, but fortunately do not eat it anyway, due to wheat allergies. I have stopped giving any wheat gluten containing products to my daughter

Did you know that wheat gluten is also in pasta, bread, cereal and many other foods you eat? Wheat gluten was not recalled, pet food was and it's not even the same grade. What you are saying is like screaming fire in a movie theatre when there is no fire.

Oh..and to answer your question, I would say most, if not all vegans know what seitan is.

The problem is not the wheat gluten itself, it is the pesticide that was used on the wheat the gluten was made from.

The problem is that non-human grade ingredients were used in the pet foods. A human grade factory would not have been allowed to use wheat gluten tainted with illegal rat poison.

Anything made in a first world country will be human grade wheat gluten. I wouldn't be overly concerned.

Am I the only one who heard that it's the rat poison that killed the dogs and cats?

Wheat gluten is in many common foodstuffs...and that was not what lead to the demise of those poor animals.
