Vegetarian diet? Anyone tried it? (didnt mean for it to rhyme...)?

I've been working out 5 days a week and I'm gaining a ton of muscle...I can out lift a few of my guy friends. But I'm not losing weight. I know muscle weighs more than fat but I can't see any change other than my muscles poking out more. I'm really concerned about the belly fat that just will not go away. So my friend told me about the vegetarian lifestyle and I've been doing it for about a week and I know its not an instant thing but I'd like to know...how soon should I be seeing results? Like I said, I'm very musclular but there is a layer of fat on top of it that I would like to send packing, so if anyone could help it would be greatly aprectiated. THANKS!!

Loosing weight is a matter of calories consumed versus calories burned. Wile a vegetarian diet makes the process easier because most vegetarian foods are less calorie dense (besides dairy and eggs), it's still no guarantee you will loose weight. A week is obviously not enough time to see any real results. After about a month or so you should notice a bit of a difference though if you are eating right.

It varies from person to person, but I personally lost over 40 pounds in a little over two months. It depends on how much good, fresh, fruits and veggies you consume, and avoiding hidden animal products, such as gelatin in things like yogurt, pastries, ice cream, etc. You should see results quickly if you are eating foods that are healthy

Losing weight requires a person to burn more then they consume. It doesnt matter if a person is vegetarian or not. Anyone can consume too many calories and then not burn them off. Avoid refined foods and all junk. If you eat pasta and bread, switch to whole wheat, drink 8 glasses of water a day, eat lots of veggies, legumes and fruit. It will take a few weeks to see results.

Regarding the poster that claims to have lost 40 lbs just by giving up meat...that's really hard to believe and not the norm by any means. Unless a person was living on fatty meats, I can't see how there can be that drastic of a weightloss. Healthy weightloss is 2-3 lbs a week

well, ive never had much of a problem with fat, however i did weigh more before i started a veg. diet than i do now. ive been vegetarian for about 2 years and if you dont eat proper proteins you will lose your muscle mass, and you may still gain fat if you eat a lot of fatty foods. i lost a lot of my muscles since being vegetarian however i have not gained much fat. you can still gain muscles however but in my opinion its harder to do when your veggie cause you have to eat all these special protein foods. eggs and milk are a good source, but it gets boring after awhile. they have frozen veggie meat products such as chicken nuggets, hamburgers, steak grillers etc. and they taste pretty good and have the protein you need in them, if only i ate them often enough to get my proper amount!

but i think its a good diet to start, it cuts out all the unhealthy fats you get from real meat. veggie meat products are only half the fat and same amount of protein!

If you have a muscular build, it could take a while to see any noticable difference. Muscle always supercedes fat, so you will probably have to follow this lifestyle for a while before you see something major.

Stop lifting so much weight. muscle weights more than fat so please stop lifting so much. lift about 3-4 sets of 15-20 reps. do more cardio. like basketball, do some track work outside (best results). You will see some results in about 3 weeks. I'm a vegetarian now and I've been one for about 4 weeks. Love the lifestyle will never go back to meat.

Yes. I am a strict vegan. You should deffinetly try it and stick with it all your life. Try it, and an internal cloud will lift from your body. Your skin will glow, your eyes will be brighter, you will think and speak clearer.
