Vegetarians, have you ever accidentally eaten meat and got very sick?!

Question:

Vegetarians, have you ever accidentally eaten meat and got very sick?

i once ate a real hamburger which i was told was a veggie burger and got very sick afterwards, does this mean my body is weak?

the reason im asking this is because i just ate a pizza with chicken in it and i didnt realize it. it wasnt very much but im afraid its gonna make me sick. is it cause my body isnt used to it or what?

First of all, how did you manage to eat a meat burger thinking it was veggie?!
And second, how long have you been veggie?

Ok and to answer your question; I dont think you can get *very* sick from eating meat when you are vegetarian, but I would expect to have a bad tummy ache and probably toilet er... discomfort for the next couple of days.

One of my favourite podcasts of all time - vegan freak radio discusses this briefly (although I believe the guy ate cows milk accidently, rather than meat) in its latests installment (#64).

I hope you get well soon. Nasty chicken...

i have gotten stomach aches and had some bathroom issues after eating meat..

but yeah your body doesn't really realize what it is.. and ends up rejecting it

no

I am not a vegetarian, however I don't eat beef or pork. I was raised this way, this isnt anything new for me. Anyway, I had lasagna made with ground beef instead of ground turkey and I had stomach issues afterwards. My body just isnt used to beef and therefore had trouble breaking down the meat.

This does mean your body aint use to it but this just tells you that u are a true vegetarian and keep it up the sickness will go away and sooner of later your body will get use to it.

my daughter got sick when her silly grandmother decided to "hide" some chicken in a casserole. My daughter didnt even know she had eating it, but got sick within an hour. When I went to pick her up, I looked at the casserole, and my well trained eye spotted the meat. Don't convince yourself you will get sick, and maybe it will pass okay, I hope so for you

I have gotten very ill from accidentally eating an eggplant submarine sandwich which was heated on the same grill as a steak sandwich. After the bathroom issues mentioned by someone else, I managed to pass out and woke up to hear my daughter calling 911 and telling them how old I was! Next time I came to, four paramedics were standing over me. Luckily one was a vegetarian and knew that I didn't need the hospital. What happens is your body no longer produces the amino acids necessary for digestion of meat and therefore your stomach/intestines perceive this weird new food as an intruder. When we are infants and/or toddlers our parents had to introduce meat to us and since we were wearing diapers no one noticed the result. The upshot is you needn't worry if you happen to ingest meat on these rare occasions, just be sure to be near 1) a bathroom, and 2) somewhere soft to land.

I have don't that at a Chinese restaurant before, ordered tofu fried and the y accidentally put a fried cubed chicken in it and ate it, ugh nasty. i could tell the texture and flavoring was alot stronger.

no im very careful what i eat

it is because you are not used to eating meat

i usually gagged when i used to eat meat anyways

Once I hate a chocolate bar with gelatin in it. I felt like puking for 20 minutes. Then I went and checked the ingredients and I thought it was maybe because of the gelatin.

For those who don't know, gelatin comes from muscles and bones of animals.

I am vegetarian and practician for many years and I've passed through many situations as you've described . (1)-No you're not weak nor sick and (2)-yes you're a kind of weak and sick. Let me explain : (1) - no, you aren't sick nor weak , you are very normal, the living system, as it was created , senses very well and strongly any impurity or thing that is not in it's law of creation (not compatible, anti -, a.s.o.) , and (2) - one of the main reasons that makes you feel bad, unconfortable and often out of balance when you eat meat ,accidentaly, is that there are the memories of the ancestors that tend to keep you still in the behaviors they used, it's the "last try " before you wash them off you. These memories , these tendences of bad functioning of the inner/outer system are the worst enemy of those who want nothing but to live their OWN life, just the way THEY ARE.This is what you feel and you will until your system will have a minimum necesary mechanisms well tuned so you will feel stronger. And what will come next - next you will sense the presence of meat and of every element that can draw a human out of balance , or you will no longer encounter situations like finding meat into your meal. Keep your good path and good luck!

Yes I got a pizza from Walmart once and it was packaged wrong. On pkg it said Vegan Pizza
but inside there was chunks of meat.. I thought it was fake meat but it was real. I got sick from that.
Also it happened with Perogies once too! I got them at Walmart too.. They said saurkeraut and onions on the pkg yet the perogies were hot and with potato!. Also the reverse happened once when I was in a hurry I inadvertently picked up Box labeled Cheemos Perogies with Bacon!
and the contents was plain perogies cottage cheese and potatos. That happened at Walmart.
When perogies are $1.45 a for 1.5kg Pkg I don't complain cause the price is right! I think Walmart probably hires some people that can't read or else the companies that have the food packed hire some people that can't read to pack the food!. I found mislabelled food most times I bought something at Walmart and I only shopped there not more than 25 times! I also got Stokely beans that were labeled Beans in Tomato Sauce but it turned out to be Beans with pork.. That one happened at the Bargain Shop not Walmart!
Maybe people that are paid poorly just do a poor job of packing food!
As long as poison doesn't get in our food! If it happened to pet food it could happen to people food!
