Where is the heart of an artichoke???
I know that this is probably a ridiculous question, but I love artichokes and I have no idea how to cook them properly
Answers:
oh, I love them and fix them all of the time. Google has some great sites with pics of how to prepare them. Its easy when you get the hang of it. Artichokes are a type of thistle. The fuzzy part in the very center is the "choke" and it will indeed make you "choke" if you eat it. The little cup like bit under the choke is the heart. Yummy. Try one steamed with lemon water, then stuffed with seasoned bread crumbs and cream cheese. Delish! Not a silly question at all. I used to only eat canned ones, then decided to do my homework on how to prepare them. That was years ago, fortunately-have developed many great recipes for them over the years. Good luck
it is at the bottom center
The artichoke heart is part of the stem. It's the part that's left when you pull off all the leaves and scrap the fuzz.
Some jarred varieties included the center leaves since they are typically very tender.
COOKING ARTICHOKES
BOIL
Stand prepared artichoke in deep saucepan or pot with 3 inches boiling water. (If desired, oil, lemon juice and seasonings can be added to cooking water.) Cover and boil gently 25 to 40 minutes, depending on size, or until petal near the center pulls out easily. Stand artichoke upside down on a rack to drain,
STEAM
Place prepared artichoke on a rack above an inch or two of boiling water. Cover and steam 25 to 45 minutes, depending on size, or until a petal near the center pulls out easily.
MICROWAVE (700 watt oven)
For one: Set one medium sized prepared artichoke upside down in a small glass bowl (a 2 cup measure will do) with ? cup water, ? teaspoon each lemon juice and oil. Cover with plastic wrap. Cook on high 6 to 7 minutes. Let stand covered 5 minutes after cooking.
Okay sweetheart it is in the middle. If u take and steam it and then take the leaves off.Weeee then you'll find the heart.Dip the leaves in butter and only eat the end of them.Yummy.If u ever what to know where a heart of something is again. It is in the middle of whatever you have.Good luck
When artichokes are peeled what is left is the heart. Or if you by a can of them you will find the hearts only. I have a nice recipe. If they are from a can cut them in halves and place them in a greased baking dish. Prepare a white sauce by cooking some flour with milk and chicken stock( optional). Season the sauce and pour it over the artichokes. Sprinkle grated cheese over it and bake it till light brown. You can also put with the artichokes some chicken pieces, it becomes a whole meal. enjoy it.
Deep inside the heart of an artichole is pure love!!!
