Meat did help with our brain development.

so what`s yer beef ,,,

yes i love meat we also ate a lot of fish
so where dose celery come in??????

yeah OK meat is good especially pig and cow flesh

ya but don't forget that evolution gave us the brains to make the decision not to eat meat

This might be true, but humans were not created to be carnivorous, but to be omnivores(or possibly omni-carnivorous). We do not have the teeth of carnivorous animals. So what's with that then? If we were ment to be carniverous then would it not be that we would have the teeth for meat like other animals do?

meat is good i couldnt live without it
i eat it every day

eating meat has got to be one of the natural things in the world..as for the fool who said we evolved brains to choose not too i can only say that some of us have brains that evolved enough to not follow idiotical trends and eat a healthy and balanced diet..a fox was scavenging for food in the bin bags left in my street last week and guess what he dragged out of them..would you believe it but it took the remains of a roast chicken..still they are easily mistaken for celery in the dark!!!

and...what is the question.

I think even if humans didn't start out eating meat early in their evolutionary history, they did at some point, so far back that it is now "natural" to us. (To those who say we don't have the digestive system or teeth for meat, that is ridiculous. Not to put too fine a point on it: if we COULDN'T eat meat, then we WOULDN'T.)

That being said, I am having my own crisis regarding whether or not to eat meat at the moment!

First off, we evolved with a lot of traits that are no longer acceptable. We have a pretty nasty and violent history. And since the average life expectancy used to be half of what it is now, I don't really think that we want to hold onto everything that got us here.

There's a lot of debate as to how much meat our ancestors ate. We certainly can digest meat, but we're set up to eat many different things. It would appear that meat something we occasionally found, that our diet consisted mostly of fruits, nuts, and grains. We crave meat and fats, and often gorge on them, and store the fat so very well, because they used to be an uncommon thing.

For every canine teeth argument, there is a corresponding evidence that we were not made to consume this much meat. The length of our colon is more in line with herbivores that carnivores. If you're actually interesting in reading more about it, there's several good articles out there. I'm not going to bother citing them though, because I'm pretty sure you're not interesting in entertaining opposing viewpoints, just quipped at people who don't agree with you.

As we continue to change to use up the resources of this earth, we will have to continue to evaluate our priorities and our treatment of our resources. I doubt that our eating habits in 100 years will be even close to what they are today.

I must insist that you educate yourself on subjects before you begin idiotic arguements about them. Meats in modern time are not as healthy as they used to be when they were natural and the animals they came from were not enhanced by hormones and steroids that are passed onto humans when we eat them.

Don't you look around and notice that children are developing and going through life phases so much faster? It's because the animals were enhanced to seem healthy as stated above. Girls are developing so much younger because certain meats and dairy are overly supplimented in estrogen and progesterone to promote milk supply and chicken egg production. Boys are developing so much younger because other meats are overly supplimented in testosterone to make cows and such bigger.

Most meat on the American market isn't as "fresh" and "new" as the supermarkets they are bought from state, in fact most of the time it is months old and the red liquid running through the package is usually just dyed water - not blood.

So the next time you think about telling vegetarians we are developed to eat meat think about what I informed you about and why some of us vegetarians don't eat meat. I'm not saying you can't eat meat, because you do. I'm just saying it's not as healthy as you people and the asker are saying.

goes way back to the cave man days. man tried it and liked it.

i heard a story about lightning striking a tree, the tree was on fire and it fell over onto a animal, killing it. Then the tree while on fire, cooked the animal sending good scents into the air. The smell floated through the air and attracted large groups of people naming this event the first bar-b-q. i do not know if this took place, i wasn,t there, but if i was, i,d be a old caveman.

2 pounds of meat a day keeps the doctor away.

who cares what we were made for if people couldnt live as veggies then it wouldnt have started and ppl woulda died from it! ive been a veggie for a year and im not dead! i actually feel much healthier and ive lost loadsa weight! veggie and proud!!!!

Why do you care if people are vegy, eat meat if you want and stop worrying what other people are doing.

Also learn how to write a question not a statement!

Vegans live off celery? Wow, I musn't be vegan then!

Did you ever think about gorillas? Big, strong, practically all muscle, and could beat you until your heart stopped.
What about horses? Oh gee, I think grass and carrots means this horse is going to be such a weak animal, that's why speed is measured in horsepower and they can actually allow me to ride them for very long distances before they tire.
And think about vegetarian/vegan bodybuilders.

The most powerful creatures on earth do not eat meat.

If you refer to "healthy" as in the nutrients, then you've got it all wrong. Where does that meat get its nutrients?
Grass, seeds, etc... You could eat seeds, nuts, veggies, fruits, etc. without killing anything and still get all the nutrients you need.
And then, when a cannibal goes to eat your meat, they'll think "I wonder what made this so healthy."

WRONG. If you think high blood pressure, high cholesterol and atherosclerosis are synonyms for healthy, then perhaps you are right. All of the above mentioned are caused by eating too much meat - especially if it is prepared in an unhealthy way.
As far as our teeth are concerned, WRONG AGAIN. Compare our tiny, dull teeth to those of lions, crocodiles, bears and other animals who are meant to tear and consume the flesh of other animals. We can't hold a candle to them.
Oh, and childish phase? If that makes you feel better, then name call all you want. I would hardly call someone childish for actually caring about his/her health to the point where they want to live a long, full, life free of all the health-related issues that come with eating meat.
Cheers!

I prefer not to evolve into a human with high cholesterol and heart disease. Healthy huh?

We evolved eating meat?
And yet now it's killing Us?

oh, another clueless wonder. We do NOT have canine teeth-look at a cat or dogs mouth-lots of claw like teeth. We have to tiny teeth with points for puncturing food, and the rest are flat like all other vegetarian creatures. If we were meant to eat meat, we would have the capability of hunting, capturing, killing, and eating it raw, like other predators. Stop with your childish phase of "evolution" which is another justificiation for meat eaters to stuff their face with dead animals to satisfy their greed. We can get everything we need from nature, and nothing has to die
"

No we did not to begin with homo sapiens were foragers who ate nuts, berries, fruits, etc. Then hunting and gathering was established closely followed the beginnings of agriculture. Therefore humans evolved with a diet primarily based on cereals, berries and nuts. Hunting and the exploitation of animals occurred later!

Maybe veganism/vegetarianism is the next stage of evolution? Maybe nature has decided we don't need meat and vegetarian/vegan food is the future for us?

Or maybe we evolved into the sickly short lived human beings we are today by eating meat. Where is your evidence that we would not be a healthier, longer lived, disease free race with out meat?

you are right, meat heals and celery does not, celery dosent' even taste good, it takes forever for celery to grow and it's a root, the celery heart and stalk grows underground, anything that grows underground is unholy, if i were you, i would eat alot of meat and talk about it all the time.

I'd love to see you munch through a raw steak with human teeth. If it's natural why do you have to cook it first?
Would you turn your nose up at eating horse, dog, cat or rat? If so, what's the difference between those and a cow?

So this Childish ' vegan' phase 'I'm going through includes:-

1) Caring about the planet in general.
2) Not being selfish enough to kill animals just because I want steak or chicken.
3) Respecting all of God's creatures.
4) Not stealing milk, eggs, honey or wool to make myself happy.
5) Supporting fair trade where possible.

Oh my God. You are right Einstein, I clearly have the mind of a two year old. That is 34 minutes on the naughty step and no Green and Black's for a week !!!!!! What an Evil cow I am!!!! My priest would give me at least 50 Hail Mary's for that lot !!!! - It makes me practically Adolf Hitler!!!

In the real world if we were actually meant to carnivores our teeth would be sharper we would run MUCH, MUCH faster and have claws.
