Vegetarian's thoughts on eating meat....?!
Vegetarian's thoughts on eating meat....?
Ive completely supported vegetarianism ethically and philosophically since I was a child but have always had a horrible addiction to burgers! I think that I have finally reached the point where I have disgusted myself by meat and cannot bring myself to eating it at all. I know many vegetarians who arent discusted by meat but dont eat it for ethical reasons.
Are any of you also disgusted by meat in the same way???
Answers:
Yes, I am completely disgusted by meat. At first, the hamburger looks and smells good, but when you remind yourself what it really is and how it was made, it becomes more nauseating than appetizing.
I can't understand how anyone who knows the horrible truth behind meat can continue eating it.
Also, I don't think there is such a thing as 'Ethical' or 'Humane' killing of animals. It is an oxymoron.
Here's a fun game if you decide to eat eggs or fish. At what level of evolution in the animal kingdom do you refuse to eat the animal. I would eat a racoon but think a lemur is too much like a primate.
I choose not to eat meat because I'm disgusted by commercial farming practice.
I will eat meat if it's been killed ethically and it's organic. My boyfriend is actually bringing home some lamb from a small organic farmer that he found driving in the country. I'll eat that. It's ethically responsible and I know it's not chalk full of hormones and chemicals. When I lived in Northern Ontario I also ate a lot of wild meat.
I also drink organic milk and free-range, organic eggs.
Eating meat in and of itself is not wrong in my opinion. As long as the animal was treated with respect for it's life, and the nourishment that it's giving you.
Hello! May 16 will mark the 7th full year of me being a vegetarian, and yes meat does gross me out. I don't think it's wrong to eat meat at all and yes I think cows and pigs should get fat so they can be eaten, that's why they're there. I just can't stand the thought of putting the carcas of a dead animal in my mouth, or anything made from a dead animal (chicken broth, etc). I am from a place that is supposed to have the best beef in the world and don't know even one other vegetarian, and don't judge an omnivore's lifestyle, it just isn't for me. In short, I totally understand being grossed out by meat.
meat is okay untill u eat in limit like i was watching a cooking show they were showing pepole eat frogs heart in japan and
turtles too. i was like eeeeeeeeeeeeeew
Yes, meat does gross me out. The thought of it getting near my food is eww.
I've been a vegetarian for 6 years and I'm coming up to my first year as a vegan.
I honestly don't think I will ever eat meat again.
I have lots of reasons. Taste. Health. Because I am opposed to animal cruelty (and here I am talking about animals who suffer from being industrially farmed). And because I don't think we should take the life of animals just because 'they taste good'.
my mum's a vegetarian and i think that meat is yuck how we eat dead cows meat but yeah...

The smell of bacon pisses me off.I hate smelling it.If you look at a pan of meatloaf look at the bottom of the pan and there will be ton's of fat/lard and grease there, that is gross thinking about putting that into your body.i think the fat frommeat is gross and just the thought of putting a dead animal in my mouth is gross.
I got disgusted when I learned how unsanitary meat is. It has to be cooked at certain temperatures to kill off bacteria and parasites. Thats gross. It contains all of the medicines, steroids, diseases the animal had, etc. Thats gross too. I am repulsed by meat. If someone had told me 10 years ago I would be a content vegetarian today, I would have told them they were nuts! Yes, here I am. Never say never, I guess
That sounds a lot like my situation
over a decade ago. I first got interested
in vegetarianism when I was 18 years
old during college. I wanted to get away
from blood and grease. I failed at it
because I was not educated about it.
I tried it again a little over four years ago
at age 28.5 and later became vegan at
age 31. The difference as I first stated
was education about how to do it
properly. Yes I am still disgusted by it
because each piece of meat is actually
a dimembered body part from a corpse.
If you decide to join the veg-family I wish
you the best of luck.
I think the way ahead is by attraction to vegetarian dishes not disgust with meat. It is mostly a matter of knowing how to cook and enjoying vegetarian meal after vegetarian meal. I almost never eat meat. Several times a year I might eat some fish.
But reading recipes, I can still enjoy a meat dish! Not so much in practice as imagination. But if I were 'tempted' I would go ahead and eat it. I don't and I'm glad because I think it is healthier. Unfortunately I do succumb to junk like chocolate ruining my progress. It's the same thing, one step after the other. No use in complaining but I wish they would shut up about chocolate as a health food.
I'll tell you my experience. I did give it up for ethical reasons and when I really sat and thought about what this "meat" actually was, I became disgusted. I see it now as decomposing flesh.
