Do vegans look down on me because I eat fish and dairy, but not meat or chicken?!

Question:

Do vegans look down on me because I eat fish and dairy, but not meat or chicken?

Answers:
I don't understand the question. It doesn't make sense. I don't think anyone cares what you eat unless you claim to be a vegetarian..which you are not because vegetarians do not eat fish. Is that what you mean? Do you say you are vegetarian? If so, then yes, I would look down on you simply because you are not telling the truth.

There is no such thing as a fish eating vegetarian as vegetarians eat no animals. Kinda cancels the other out no?

well pretty much cause being vegan means that you can't eat products that come from animals. It's basically being super vegetarian.

if you want to be vegan, then yes. You can be a vegetarian that eats dairy and fish. They shouldn't have problem, and even if they do, who cares?

i wouldn't because it is not my right to judge your choice of food.

I will be honest I am conflicted about people who cut out certain animals foods but continue to eat others.

While I am thankful for anyone's reduction in animal products, it is also frustrating. If someone can see that eating meat and chicken is harmful to themselves and the animals I cannot see how they cannot see that eating fish and dairy is also harmful.

Why do it only halfway? What stops you from becoming vegan? Fish and dairy are terrible for the earth, the animals and your body.

*I would not say I 'look down' on people that consume animals but I will admit that I hold other vegans in higher esteem.

Eating fish doesn't make you a vegetarian. You are eating an animal. Its ok to drink milk and be a vegetarian but eating fish is a no no.

Don't worry about it, food is to be enjoyed and as long as you respect your friends eating practises, and you be honest with them about what you like, they should respect you.

I hate those who will not bend their rules a little to cater to what I have, even though I have done my best to cater to theirs

i just bought a half a beef the other day and nobody looks down on me. so i think you will be fine. beside did you not know that vegetables are living organisms that can't defend themselves. just my 2cents

No I don't look down on you. I *would* look down on you if you went into a restaurant, said you were vegetarian and ordered tuna salad. If I go into the same restaurant, they are going to serve me fish and not see what the big deal is about. See what I mean?

ok im vegan i havent been for long. but i thought if im gunna do somin better do it all the way ya kno.

anywho. fish is a meat.ok
and r u vegan or veggie? cuz tht sounds like a veggie to me.

i am a veggy man. no i do not look down at you >:P you are also veggy

i'm vegan and i don't look down on anyone, i usually look up, i'm short

I don't look down on you. Its your diet, eat whatever pleases you. We all have different journeys. We can't all be neatly labeled and follow someone elses rules.

Fish is meat.

You live your life the way you think is right, that's the best any human being can do, I will do the same. So no I wouldn't look down on you.

But you are incorrect in saying you don't eat meat. Meat = animal flesh, fish = animal, fish flesh = meat.

no, but you are not considered a vegetarian...sometimes it is a process...changing habits (esp. from childhood) is not easy..

I don't have to agree with your choices, or you with mine, but we each need to respect the choices of others.

Just please don't offer to share your rotting animal products with me.

Ahem... fish and dairy, but not meat or chicken? Not meat? Not meat? Then what is fish? Not meat? Anyway, they don't look down on you. It's a personal choice, and yes, we all want to influence those around us at least a teeny tiny bit, but they don't look down on you. I'm pretty sure everyone in our generation grew up eating meat unless they're from a different culture... it just takes some of us longer to choose to stop eating it.

If you call yourself a vegetarian or a vegan and are eating fish or dairy, then, yes, they probably look down on you. If you don't claim to be a vegetarian or vegan, then they probably don't care.

I look down on anyone that eats any animal flesh. I find it morally repugnant. I don't think you're any better for just eating fish than someone who also eats other animals.

Sometimes I wish I didn't feel this way, because it shows when I try to do outreach, but it is how I feel.

You look down on others who do things you find morally offensive too (child molesting, murder, etc.)

I think the problem is not so much what you choose to eat. That is your personal choice afterall.

But, if you call yourself vegan and eat fish and dairy you're not being truthful. Being vegan means you don't consume anything that comes from an animal.

You're not even vegetarian. Vegetarians don't eat fish. Fish is meat.

If you're not vegetarian or vegan and don't claim to be, I'm not sure what the purpose of the question is.
