Yes I love being a vegan.
When people say they think you are going to get sick from being a vegetarian, They are either Ignorant to the facts, Misinformed, or have seen someone get sick from it( I mean they have seen a vegetarian friend of theirs get sick from what they thought was lack of nutrients, but really from lack of good eating.)
Like any diet you will get sick if you don't eat right. Being a vegetarian is no different. Some vegetarians think that to be one all they have to do is not eat meat. This is ignorance not in a bad way, they just don't know any better. To be healthy you have to eat right... get all the nutrients you need. Some vegetarians simply cut out meat and don't substitute it with anything. You have to educate yourself before you make the transition or you will wind up...well sick.
the human body needs nutrients that can only be derived from meat. a strict vegetarian will die from lack of these nutrients.
i LOVE it!!! like its great being a vegetarian. i just celebrated 1 year of being one and i am just happy that i am one. helping animals is just an awesome feeling, and you don't eat as much fat as you did before.
you can get sick if you don't eat right like you need protein and you can get it off of peanut butter, and soy meat. so you can get sick if you don't eat right,
i haven't gotten sick, well i have buts its from a cold but i haven't gotten sick from being a vegetarian.
The meat industry and government have brainwashed people into thinking they need to get protein and b vitamins from meat. Funny enough, the only reason meat contains B vitamins, specifically B12, is because cows are given a supplement of B12-they dont produce it normally, neither do people. Healthy protein can come from a balance of whole grains, such as rice and quinoa, millet, etc., and legumes, lentils and pulses, and fresh fruits and veggies. Its all a mindset. We do not NEED meat, anymore than a cow does-and our muscle makeup is about the same. You will do fine if you eat a balanced diet-pay no attention to the brainwashed meat eaters who haven't done the homework-
I have been a vegetarian for more then 20 years and I too have had to put up with comments from people who probably really care but are greatly misinformed. People just have a hard time changing their way of thinking. The people saying they don't want you to get sick are probably eating lots of things that are a detriment to their health.
Many studies have shown that vegetarians seem to have a lower risk of obesity, coronary heart disease (which causes heart attack), high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus and some forms of cancer. I won't even get into the studies about the chemicals and hormones that animals are given and the effects they have on the consumers.
