Answers:
I don't think being vegetarian have anything to do with weight. I know quite a few fat vegetarians.

If you eat fries all day long, I'm sure you will gain weight, even though it's every bit as vegetarian as a green salad.

People just stereotypically associate vegetarian diet with weight-loss diet.

Not necessarily. It is harder to consume to many calories as a vegetarian, but it still can be done, and if you are not exercising then it is even more critical to take care how you eat.

Depends on what you eat. You may even gain weight eating all the carbs in a vegetarian diet

I'm not a vegetarian, and I'm not sure you will use weight, but meat is very important to your diet to keep you healthy, so before you make any totally MAJOR decisions just think about that =)

You can much easier than if you were a flesh-eater. Of course you have to moderate how much you eat as well.

I'm not a vegetarian but I did have a female friend at University who became a vegetarian. Sadly she put weight on following this life decision. I believe it related to the fact she ate mostly preprepared vegetarian dishes which surprisingly often contain more fat than non vegetarian dishes/

Any kind of diet that limits calories will help you lose weight. Becoming a vegetarian will not. Even if all you eat are oranges and carrots, you can still gain weight. It has nothing to do with what you are eating, but how much. So if as a vegetarian, you are cutting down on sugars and fats and eating the correct number of calories for your height and desired weight, you will lose weight. But if you eat too much, even if you eat good for you foods, you won't drop those pounds.

Hope it helps.

not for sure my sister became a vegetarian and she gained weight because she started filling up on carbs

You could, but you might not. It all depends on how healthy you eat, and how much you exercise. In most cases, vegetarians are skinnier, so I would believe so, but that is not in all cases.

you defenitely will......

not necesssarily. It depends on if you make healthy choices or not. I mean, cheese pizza and ice cream and beer are all vegetarian.
But if your focus is on being healthy and you are eating mostly veggies and fruit and vegetarian sources of protein(tofu, tempeh, seitan, rice and beans, nuts etc.) you could definitely lose weight if you wanted to.

Although the vegetarian diet is considerably healthier than the average, It alone does not garentee weight loss. To lose weight on any diet it all falls back to the basic formula.- BURN MORE ENERGY THAN YOU CONSUME - Good luck and enjoy the healthier lifestyle you have chosen.

If you want to lose weight, just try eating 1000 calories for 2 days, 1500 on the third day and then repeat. Try to keep the fat calories at a 1/3 or less of the total.

If you do this, you won''t have to worry about counting carbs or anything. Weight loss is about calories.

As you train your mind and tummy to eat less, you will be less hungry.

One simple way to do this is use Healthy Choice Frozen Dinners. They run about 240 calories a piece and are pretty good and filling. That leaves you at 720 calories for the day with 3 meals. This means you still have room under 1000 for a "Slim-a-bear" or two which are chocolate covered ice cream bars (yummy!) and run about 120 calories a piece.

Rush Limbaugh followed this diet and lost 30 lbs in 40 days. I have done the same without suffering.

it depends. if you eat lots of veggie pizza at midnight no

if you include dairy products and scarf down ice cream by the pint,no.

you will eliminate animal products but if you over eat vegetables, snacks etc you can still pile on the pounds.

I have in my lifetime known a few overweight vegetarians!

The key is to consume everything in moderation.

hard to do sometimes even for those who don't eat meat

good luck though.
I suggest you familiarize yourself on the vegetarian lifestyle though various sources so you can consume a balanced and healthy diet
