Hey,
So i am also a 17 year old who just became a vegetarian about 3 weeks ago. Me, I just went all out and gave up all non-vegetarian foods right away (except for gelatin cuz thats like in everything). It was pretty hard at first, but now I'm getting the hang of it. The hard thing isn't resisting meat, but finding enough alternative meal which can be hard if you're a bad cook (like I am). Another hard part is finding stuff to eat at school, so what I do is just bring a bunch of little things like power bars, bagels, etc.
However if your looking to ease into being a vegetarian slowly, i suggest just giving up different kinds of meat at a time (ex. start out giving up just chicken, then steak, pork, etc.)
if you have any other questions feel free to hit up my email.

If you want to ease into a vegetarian diet, you could try making the change gradually. For example, start by eliminating beef and pork for a week or two. After that, stop eating poultry as well. After that, stop eating seafood.

During those periods, you should start looking for substitutes for the meat products. Garden burgers can substitute for ground beef, and various soy/tempeh/seitan products can substitute for other meats.

It's also a good time to learn how to prepare and cook food for yourself, an endeavor that has its own rewards. Vegetarian food is just a flavorful as regular food, it just doesn't have any meat in it.

I have stopped eating meat for about...5 months now. Wow that sounds al long time! i am 14...
I feel like such a better person for doing it, eating meat just wasnt me...i still eat fish occasionally, which seems to me a good way to cut down, but still get protein etc. But its not esential!
Anyway, best thing to do is to find what is best for you. Reduce the amount of meat you eat daily...or just stop. I just stopped, cos i knew i would never cut down.

Its easy, stock up on quorn products, and protein dishes, and get advice from your local health food shop.
Protein is in cheese, milk, soya products, baked beans, quorn, eggs, nuts, seeds, etc

I became vegan at 17. I didn't say, "I'm becoming vegan now" I was just altering my diet for better athletic performance and reading as many medical and nutrition books as possible and weeding through all the crap. I was just looking up everything I ate and seeing if it was hindering my performance or not. In the span of a couple months I was vegan (without even ever hearing the word before). Seeing the results for myself in the following training races was proof enough for me, and I just continued refining my diet for better performance and researching and I've been what they call a vegan ever since. I'm 35 now. So, I say, do lots of exercise and your body will welcome the change in diet and guide you with your choices by either performing better or worse. It's an easy way, without research, to see what is good for you or not.
