How many Vegetarians are sick of Animal Rights Activists?!

Question:

How many Vegetarians are sick of Animal Rights Activists?

Seriously, they ruin the image of them. I'm sick of Animal rights activist(ARA) disrupting the ones who are vegetarians for health reasons. If I want to eat a small amount of cheese, isntead of meat in my sandwich, then i will!!!

ARAs are literally the Nazis in the food world. As a Pescetarian, I'm going to alot of fish now to relieve my anger.

I'll let Matt H really tear into to you since I'm not an animal rightist and think they're at best ahead of their time since you can't have animal rights without first getting the general population to respect animal welfare (which I am a *strong* proponent of!).

I'm sick of people like you that claim to be vegetarian and eat dead fish!!! All you do is make life hard on REAL vegetarians by convincing the general population that dead fish is an acceptable part of a vegetarian diet. It's obvious that the parasites and heavy metals you consume are rotting your puny little mind. Use the correct term and you won't take flak from those of us that are tired of being confused for piscivores!!!

Vegetarians do not eat fish. A fish eater is a Piscivore. Spread the correct word!

Yes I for one am!

thank you greengho, i am a chef and a meat eater and have nothing but contempt for veggies who eat white meat or fish, are they confused or what. i now know the correct term for a fish eating vegetarian and still have nothing but respect for true vegetarians, couldnt do it myself but the best of british to you if you are one

Wow, you have some anger issues. I am only sick of ARA's that still eat meat. The animals have no voice of their own

Even the most militant ARA doesn't annoy me as much as your average "you-need-meat-for-protein" do-gooder who wants to convert me to meatarianism.

First of all the AR movement, if you can even call it a movement, is currently going though a revolution. Out with the Peta, HSUS, new welfairist, "happy meat", "compassionate-killing" nonsense, and in with vegan education and creative vegan outreach. The Real animal rights movement is only just beginning. The real animal rights Vegan movement will be much less "fanatical" (whatever you take that to mean) But much more unequivocal in our views. We will be more willing to work with the public to help them to stop using animals in any way. We will show, using logic, that animals are not ours to use any more than a disabled human or infant is.

It's fairly pointless to respond to you considering your not even a vegetarian ( So I post this for everyone's reading pleasure), even if you were I don't consider vegetarians part of any animal rights efforts anyways. The fact that some people do only reinforces the absurdity of the current "movement". Being a vegetarian and claiming your for animal rights is like claiming to want to end slavery and still owning slaves. it's ridiculous on the face of it.

New welfarists, people who claim welfare reform will someday lead to abolition, are mistaken in at least 3 ways (there are many more, but this will suffice for now.):

1. We have had welfare for animals for over 200 years (1000's in India) and it has not led to the abolition of anything.

2. Welfare reforms make people more comfortable with animal exploitation. any person who has ever talked to someone else about their meat eating habit has run across many people who say "but I eat free range". The public views "happy meat" as a morally acceptable alternative, it isn't.

3.New welfarists claim that welfare reform raises the price of animal products thereby reducing demand. I can't even understand how people like Erik Marcus can argue this point when the HSUS says the opposite on their own website. The fact is simple, welfare reforms only are put into place when it is either economically neutral or beneficial to the industry.

Traditional welfarism is not even worth mentioning here because it takes the view that animals are fine for us to use, we should just do it "more gently". This view is separate from the ones above in that it does not take issue with animals being property, nor our use of them. Again, this kind of welfare is proven ineffective time and time again.

i am they wanted to kill that poor polar bear in Britain, its so wrong, if you go to Peta there are hunters who today are staring to hunt white seals for their fur i mean dont we have enough clothing without killing animals, cotton and such!

You're not a vegetarian. I hope you're not claiming to be one. That would anger me greatly!

ARAs are the 'Nazis' in the food world? They're trying to save animals from veritable 'concentration camps' instead of put them into them!

Why are you in the vegetarian and vegan section?!?!?!
