White sugar-- Is/Not
Brown sugar-- Is/Not
Confectionary-- Is/Not
Answers:
Most white sugar is filtered through a bone char.so you should avoid.Try and buy only unrefined/unbleached sugar.
Lactose is a type of sugar that is found in milk and other dairy products.
White Sugar, Brown Sugar, and Confectionary sugar are all made of sucrose, a different kind of sugar. So eat all the sucrose you want, it's not lactose!
One of the central ideas that has motivated vegetarians is that food choices should not require the death or suffering of animals. Thus, many vegetarians avoid meat but eat dairy products and eggs (on the grounds that store-bought eggs are unfertilized). Some people argue, however, that eating eggs may prevent the life of an animal, so some vegetarians are lacto-vegetarians.
Sugar does not fall into this category.
It depends on the filtering process used by particular brands. Most white sugar is filtered through "char" which is from ground up animal bones. Some companies, such as Florida Crystals, do not use char. I buy their raw organic sugar. Anything "bleached" such as table salt, white flour, etc. are usually filtered through char
I am a former chef in Canada and have been purchasing a non-refined organic cane juice extract, it is similar to a product called "Sugar in the Raw", most restaurants have small packets, but some supermarkets sell it in boxes or bags, in the same aisle as the regular sugar, it to is unrefined, basically a cane juice extract that is granulated.
And to all those people who still believe that sugar is filtered through bone char, they are still living in a world of make believe and fairys, it is filtered through paper and cloth filters. it is filtered to remove the particles of bark and other foreign materials after crushing the cane and the juice is filtered before boiling, the by product is called molasses.
Not all sugars are bad. Some sugars (called glyconutrients) are good for you. Your cells cannot survive without them. Check out http://glycoinformation.com
