Do you think I am a hypocrite?!

Question:

Do you think I am a hypocrite?

I am a vegetarian. I have not eaten meat for almost 6 months. I am vegetarian for ethical reasons. I think its wrong to kill other animate, living objects just so we can eat their corpses.

I also work at Wendys. I mostly work the fryer (I fry Chicken Nuggets and French Fries). I also sometimes work grill, where I cook the raw hamburger to the junior and single patties. So, do you think I am a hypocrite?

I looked for a job not in fast food for months but couldn't find any jobs. Then I got this one.

Hi! Haven't seen in V&V in a long time. You are NOT a hypocrite but you are in a kind of, sort of hypocritical situation! Way back in the day I did my stint in burger joints (they weren't called fast food back then) owned by relatives. I finally got determined enough to find ANY other job after friends came up with this line:
"A vegetarian running a burger joint is like a nun running a whorehouse" (no offense meant to anyone!)

That analogy worked for me! I ditched working for family and took a job as a night janitor until I could find a better job. I'll tell you that your health will improve a few weeks after quitting! You don't realize when your doing it how all those nasty fumes and grease mess with your body!!!

You'll also find that other employers will look upon you more favorably now that you're employed. Dust off and update your resume and go pound some doors in your spare time!

Good luck!

Vegetarians do not eat fish. A fish eater is a Piscivore. Spread the correct word!

no you aren't, you just needed a job to live and buy stuff. it's alright dude, we all have to pay our bills somehow right? i mean but if you don't think it's the right job for you then maybe look for another good one in your spare time. maybe even a vegan or vegitarian restaurant, who knows what you could find out there.

I think it's ok as long as you don't eat it but if you eat it then go around talking about you're a vegetarian than that'll make you a hypocrite

no buddy...you r not
u need to pay bills so it is fine

Hey, vegetarions have to eat too! No, a job is a job!

Yes, but you're doing well by not actually contributing to the murder rate.

DROP THE MCNUGGETS NOW AND PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR, ANIMAL KILLER!!!!

If your beliefs are personal and you don't believe everyone on earth should be a vegetarian, then you are not a hypocrite.

Well, you need a job, but that doesnt sound ideal. I would be constantly looking for a better option. It does seam a bit hypocritical that you are vegetarian, but still doing the dirty work for others to stuff their face. Perhaps you could start selling on ebay?

I wouldn't consider you a hypocrite because that is your job. It's not like you are sitting there eating the food. That would make you a hypocrite. We all have to earn a living some how.

No I don't think your a hypocrite but if you believe you are that's the problem.

It is hypocritical, but you need to have a job. Until you find something else, keep working there.

Because you have chosen to be a vegetarian for "morale" reasons, as opposed to dietary ones then YES, you are being a hypocrite.

You can not preach out of one side of your mouth, and then turn around and condone it by working at a restaurant that serves the very thing that you are vowing to protect.

I don't think you're a hypocrite. If that was the only job available, you had to find a way to make some money. You can't get by on your looks, you know. Besides, you aren't encouraging people to eat meat - just giving them what they order. If it bothers you, keep looking for a better job - something will come along eventually. But until then, rest assured that sometimes we all have to do things we don't like to survive.

yes and no...
yea because when you take a stand and say that you want to be a vegetarian... you are supposed to be against ANYONE eating meat... so you are sort of helping others by cooking THEIR meat for them to eat
no because you are not eating it and are sticking to what you believe is right...

you're not a hypocrite; you are a gainfully employed person who shouldn't worry about trivial things ike this. A better job will come along in due time

uhmmm, if your sooo against meat, wouldn't you feel REALLY guilty frying chicken nuggets everyday

Let me just say, you have to make a living. I am glad for you that you have a job. One could say that Wendy's will do well whether you are employed or unemployed, that you are not causing anyone to do the wrong thing by being employed there.

BUT... If your conscience bothers you, try another job. Subway and Taco Bell have more vegetarian choices.

No you're not a hypocrite. You have to have a job. You could get a better one so you can stay out of FF (fast food) you could go to Target, Staples, Bestbuy. I always hated fast food and told my daughter not to ever go to work in a place like that. Look for anyplace but a FF. I'm mostly a vegetarian too, but once in a while I HAVE to have a bite of meat. I just can't help it. But I don't want it all the time. I eat mostly salads.

Yes, but not for working at wendys. Because you beleive it is wrong to kill living things.......but don't have a problem eating plants and fruits. When harvested, they were living.

Also your ethics arn't very strong, you appear to have little conviction in them.

work is mandatory regardless of religion, race or personal belief. just work

I don't think so a job is one and caring for a living thing is another its like saying " i hate FORD, i cant stand fords motors problems" and you work for FORD because you don't have different choice of finding another job get me? so i dont think you're hypocrite.

Who isn't a hypocrite!?

so you wont eat the corpse, but you'll feed off the money you make from feeding it to others..... yes you're a hypocrite..... only reason I think a person should have for being a vegetarian is if they just don't like meat, or think it's healthier to not consume any. But if you make any descions in this life for "ethical" reasons ( against abortion, can't eat animals...etc) sooner or later you'll find your self in a place that forces you to be a hypocrite!

If you're a vegetarian for ethical reasons WHY would you work for a company that is responsible for the senseless murder of so many innocent, defenseless animals? Would you work at a slaughter house? A fur salon? I won't put a label on you but YOU know you need to get a different job. How about starting a dog walk/ pet sitting service of your own? Work for change, don't be a part of the problem.

No, I do not think you are a hypocrite. Jobs are hard to come by so you have to do what you have to do. I think you should continue to look for a job that is not in the food industry though just so that you can keep your options open. I haven't had red meat in over 15 years and when I first gave it up it was because I felt bad for the cows but I didn't stop wearing leather shoes that made me a hypocrite. The reason I don't eat it now is that i genuinely do not like it but I still love a good pair of shoes.

You're not a hypocrite(the lady above me, however, is), but if I were you I would keep looking for another job. This isn't like buying a pair of leather shoes ... you're kind of under duress here, since there are no other jobs.

Well, we all have to pay the bills, don't we! I do eat meat, however, I believe that they should be treated correctly why they are alive. I HATE confinements. The poor animals can barely move and the growth hormones are bad for them and us

Don't you know that millions of animals die from being in the way of tractors and other grain/vegetable harvesting equipment? You're just as guilty as those who eat animals.

Animals aren't people you vegan nazi hippocrite.

For every animal you don't eat, I'm going to eat three.

Well, you say you are vegetarian because you do not want to support killing other animate, living objects. But in working at a fast food chain that makes millions on the the dead corpses of animate living objects then you are in fact supporting the system you say you don't want to support. So yes, that makes you a hypocrite.

not at all
a hypocrite would be telling others to not eat meat but would eat it himself
