If I become a vegetarian will I lose weight?!
If I become a vegetarian will I lose weight?
I still want to eat fish though... so I will not be a 100% vegetarian.
Answers:
If you become a vegitarian you will lose wait more than likely but, youwill be doing more than that:
1. you will make a personal statement for yourself.
2. you will be saving your arteries and probably won't grow old with vericrose veins.
3. Mother nature will love you so much for not partaking in the slaughter of her beautiful creatures which can not speak out for themselves and need us vegitarians to do it.
And last but, not leaste you can look at your pets if you have any with a mutual respect for each other neither one of you eat each others species.....Hehe!! Good Luck!
P.S you don't have to stop completly at first I ate chicken and fish then I realized I was ready to fully give it up completly!!
yes you will watch yourself starve
yes, you'll lose some weight by become vegetarian but the better way to eat high fiber veggies and low sugar fruits. Also steam veggies and steam or bake fish will be a good combination meal.
You might lose some weight, but you still won't be a vegetarian.
You won't even be a partial vegetarian. You will be a meat eater.
my brother lost weight after becoming a "vegetarian" he still eats fish, shrimp though
Yes probably, But when I became an ovo lacto vegetarian I still ate cheese and I ate alot of it so no I did not lose weight. In fact, I did not eat good at all, half of the time I was losing weight and gaining it back. It becomes a cycle. But since I've been a vegan, and cut out cheese, and the junk, I have become healthier and lost weight, I wasn't really that much overwieght to begin with to be fair, just a little chubby. But I have been eating right (which is the key) and working out for a while. and I have lost the unwanted weight. But again. the real key to losing weight is to eat right and get regular exercise. Not just to be a vegetarian (cause being a vegetarian dosn't exactly exclude junk).
Not necessarily. It isn't the protein that makes you gain weight. It's more the fats, sugars and carbs (especially those quickly converted to sugars).
The ONLY way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume! The source of the calories just does NOT matter!!
If you want to east fish that''s OK with those of us that are real vegetarians. But if you eat fish and insist on calling yourself vegetarian or use a term that implies a connection between being veggie and eating fish don't whine when we slam you for being a liar!
Like the last answer said, you will lose weight if you burn more calories than you consume. It is possible to be on a vegetarian diet and eat vegetarian junk food which is likewise high in calories. But if you maintain a healthy diet which would be eating lots of fruits and vegetables than you will probably end up losing weight (assuming you are overweight) because most fruits and veggies are low in calories.
look let me tell you the truth you will lose a little wait UNTIL your body recognizes the change and adapts to it so you better burn more calories than you eat and please don't use pills or liposuction
No you will not loose weight by being a vegiterian. trust me I tried it.
Not really!. I have seen may overweight vegetarians. Actually because they end up avoiding meats in most restaurants, etc... they can end up eating a lot of carbs, specially, white flours, maybe food high in sugars, high corn syrup, bad or damaged fats, etc... that are really fattening and not really nutritious. You can have a vegetarian diet and lose weight, but you still have to watch your diet and select your food carefully. Somebody that eats a nutritious, unprocessed, healthy diet will tend to be in his/her optimal weight, whatever that is.
Okay, here is the deal with not eating meat and eggs and the affect it will have on your weight-loss. I am 100% vegetarian now and I have been for around 5 years. I have lost weight, but there is a trick to it. You still have to watch what you consume and you still need to work out. And it doesn't just fall off quickly. You have to adopt this lifestyle for a while to see results...so don't get discouraged. The thing is, you need to keep your calories at about 1100 a day and work out for at least an hour. If I were you, I'd work out first thing in the morning to jump-start that metabolism! =) The truth about vegetarian foods is that they're a lot healthier than other foods...resulting in less calories, fat, cholesterol and carbs. Your body likes these veggies and high protein. Go to goveg.org to order your free starter kit and browse through yummy recipes. Good luck! =)
Veggies are made up of mostly carbs (sugar) so if you consume a lot of veggies and only veggies, no. You'd have to cut down on quanity.
I like jes_1love's answer.
I lost 40lbs eating fruit and vegetables. It works as long as you don't replace meat with junk food. Fish doesn't have a lot of fat but I've read that there is a lot of chemicals in seafood, scary.
