I want to become a vegan or a vegeterian, but I dont know where to start ?
Im looking to find simple quick meals that i can make on my own without lots of preperation. Im a daughter, and my mom approves but she wont cook the meals because shes still very much in love with meat. Anyone have any advice? Websites where i could get recipes or a diet plan?

Tessa, first you need to ask yourself how far you want to go with this and why.
If you continue in this venture, i suggest starting slowly. But if you have such a strong aversion to eating meat of any kind then certainly go cold turkey. Although, I have found that many who go cold turkey, return to eating meat within a year's time. Think about each item you are replacing or cutting out, and what it means to you.
I stopped eating red meat cold turkey, allowed chicken and fish for another two years, before I stopped eating those. I have been vegetarian for 17 years now, and will never go back.
Many will tell you that you will need more protein, this is propaganda. There is protein in everything you eat. If you are concerned eat more beans, nuts, and rice.
Learn to cook, learning to cook will be the best way to continue a diet like this for the rest of your life. Don't be afraid of new things. Try recipes, seventeen years ago i din't have the internet for these. But it is a wonderful tool for new recipes.
I prefer vegweb myself.
There are plenty of quick fix meals out there. Use these as a necessity but not as everyday meals, they aren't as healthy.
When you find a particularly good recipe, suggest cooking it for your parents for dinner. Show them you are capable, and willing to share, as you hope they will continue to share their vegetarian side dishes with you.
I say good luck to you, I think you are making a wise decision, but make sure you are doing it for the right reasons.
Learn about tofu, over a billion people love tofu, but you need to know how to use it.
I get almost all of my recipes from the Food network website - I'm not vegetarian, but I'm sure they have a large amount of recipes in that category. I would suggest getting used to lots of salads and steamed veggies - it's the quickest, easiest, healthiest way to go. You might also want to check with a doctor or nutritionist about what kind of foods will give you a balanced diet.
human beings are carnivores....
we aren't meant to just eat veggies..
only screwing yourself...
I couldnt be a vegan...love pizza too much...and dont see the point. I have been a complete vegerarian since I was six and have never in my life eaten any meat besides the stuff in chicken soup. U can still eat about ne thing...pizza, pasta, fries, salad, rice, and even shrooms
There are meat substitutes if you want to try those. Try/look for Boca meatless burgers. They're really good. If you go to the grocery store, there should be a small vegetarian section. There are meals there that you can cook/heat up in the oven. Silk Chocolate soy milk is good as well. Look for products from Amy's Kitchen. Some of her stuff has a ton of calories in them, but they're good and vegetarian. Check out Vegetarian Times magazine for some tips. Also, here's a link to other sites: http://www.care2.com/channels/ecoinfo/ve...
If you're really serious about this, watch out for fast food like Taco Bell. They put lard in their refried beans as do most other restaurants. And beware of gelatin. This is an animal product found in jello, pudding, etc. I've been a vegetarian for over 10 yrs. You learn more as you go along. You CAN eat more than just rabbit food! Good luck!
One of the great things about Vegetarians is that they know how to keep things simple. There's nothing wrong with making a meal out of crackers and cheese slices, or carrots and apple slices. You can prepare these meals in seconds, no cooking time or temperature checking required. Why make things complicated right?
the quickest and easiest thing is to eat stright raw fresh fruit and vegetables, if you cook the vegg it loses nutes. so eat those and eat nuts and seeds, and learn to cook tofu, and eat lots, when you turn vegg you'll lose weight unless you eat all the time, so get used to eating all day, i'm so freaking full
grow bigger, me.
If you want something very easy, you could always whip up a pot of soup and eat it over a couple of days. Even a tray of vegetarian lasagne wouldn't be too difficult if you use a product called TVP (textured vegetable protein) instead of mince. It's just like the real thing, only saltier.
Sorry to say, but your mum sounds a little selfish for not supporting you. It wouldn't be too much trouble for her to occasionally cook a meal you could eat. Thankfully my mum and brother have become vegetarian too, so now ours is a vegetarian household ^_^
And don't listen to others about just eating raw fruit and vegetables - you'll be ill in no time. They obviously don't know what they're talking about. You'll have to supplement your diet with tablets - I take iron and B12 four times a week. Make sure to find tablets that don't cause constipation ie. don't just get the cheapest ones available.

For almost every item of meat product there is an alternative widely available at most supermarkets. Start off by simply replacing whatever your Mum is having for the veggie alternative. There is now a wide range of veggie products and ready meals, check out the freezers in your local store. Buy a cheap veggie recipe book from a charity shop for further ideas.
try goveg.com - just don't eat meat - period. once you get it out of your system, you can play around with being a vegan. if you have a problem with giving up meat - go to peta's website and visit the "meet your meat" section. That should cure you.
