So you want to be a millionaire: here's the catch..?!

Question:

So you want to be a millionaire: here's the catch..?

an old rich guy says that he will give you money between one dollar and a million dollars. However, you will only have a chance to get each amount. If you ask for one dollar, your chance will be 100% of getting it. If you ask for a million dollars, your chance will be 0% of getting it. if you ask for 500,000, your chance will be 50%. So what amount do you ask for?

$250,000 - $350,000

some how i think you're hacking into my computer right now and stealing my ideals.......

i'll take all the moneh the old fool have and spend it to free animals, feed hungry, and kill people who traps animal for fur.

wow. this is a pretty cool question. if there is a real answer then would it be arounddd.........20,000? that seems reasonableee! :]

hmmm I'd do 400,000$ 60% chance.

dude how can i be a millionaire if the chances of getting a million are zero?

This is relevant on a vegetarian and vegan board for what reason?

What does this have to do with food? ~-~

I would ask for $999,999.99. Even though the odds are against me, I would get the money because I'm lucky. Then I'd pickpocket the guy and get my penny.

if that guy im asking is mark cuban ( Dallas mavericks owner) id ask for a million.....chances are if u have a good reason he'll give it to you. hes freakin crazy have u heard of people just sending him letters of reasons of why they need money and he actually sends it to them. theres a 50% chance, either yes or no.

I am a rational person, so I would pick 500,000.

It has the highest expected value (250,000)

50% * 500,000 + 50% * 0 = 250,000

100% * 1 + 0 % * 0 = 1

75% *250,000 + 25% * 0 = 187,500

Since this is in the food section.

I would ask him for dinner and ask if he was willing to pay for dinner. He would say yes and I would cook him the most amazing dinner and dessert the works with the best wine and nothing left out. Then I would give him the bill for $999,990.00
He needs money for the cab ride home. ;)
