Any vegetarians out here? What are your reasons?!

Question:

Any vegetarians out here? What are your reasons?

I am a vegetarian, by the way.....

Answers:
Hi, I have been vegetarian for 15 years. At first it was mostly because of health reasons, but I started learning more about the entire meat industry, and stayed vegetarian for ethical and environmental reasons.

i've been a vegetarian for 30 years...it's kept me healthy, young looking and slim.

I am here for you! Once I saw a cow getting chopped up and I felt so sorry for it.So I swore that I'd no longer eat meat, especially hamburgers!

The reason is my religion according to which animals are former or potential human beings. You might not believe in reincarnation so however silly that may sound, the main thing to remember is that it causes unnecessary pain to the animal which could be prevented.

I just feel guilty every time I think of eating meat. I believe animals rights should be considered equal to humans. I'm 14 and have been a vegetarian for 6 years even though my parents disapprove.

im vegan and i dont want to support the meat, dairy, or egg industries. (dairy and egg industries lead to the meat industry) cheers

I'm vegan, & it is for animals rights, enviorment, and my health.
if you go to www.goveg.com, they provide lots of reasons for being vegitarian or vegan =D

I am becoming a vegetarian tommorow.... my reason is that I want to be healthier, and be friendlier to the environment! (besides the obvious reason: animal cruelty)

yeah i'm a vege
it is kinda fun!
i am 1 cuz
i have issues wen i see blood soooooooo...
get it!
I think vegetarians are helping the planet survive
cuz if everyone ate meat from the beginning of time no animals left all of em gone
how bad would that be?
now i'll let you think of why be'in a vegetarian is good or bad!
*try to write an essay 'bout it so people dont find reasons to laugh @ us!
They'll realize how evil they are and stop thats what the world needs people to team up and defeat the enemy!

I evolved into one... it wasn't overnight for me.

Growing up on a farm I saw the process of killing, cleaning and preparing chickens. It was humanly done and with respect and the chickens were free range and all that good stuff... as a kid some of them were my 'friends' or at least ones I was very fond of... those I didn't eat of course.
(The process was really gross but as a child you don't know what to think sometimes.)

Living in that environment it was easy to accept that this is how life is.... animals=food....(We did have a huge garden and orchard too...we didn't eat meat everyday)

As I got older and thought more deeply about it and the animals my thoughts changed. Learning of other veg cultures also helped.
Eventually I realized I couldn't digest animal protein so that really did it for me and made my final transition to vegetarianism easy. Someone also introduced me to the concept of industrial agriculture and that turned my stomach and saddened me to no end.

It wasn't overnight and it wasn't one particular incident but it happened at my own pace.

Presently, I gently encourage my family, friends and co workers to try veg dishes and see how great they feel afterwards. I read anything I can on veggie lifestyle because I need to be more informed so I can tell others about it.

I find it hard to contain my excitement sometimes and try not to overdo it with the information to my omnivore buddies.

Personally I'm glad to be a vegetarian in this day and age... there are so many options, information and don't forget with all the unclean practises in the meat industry I avoid most bacteria and viruses.
It's a long version but those are my reasons...
Have a great day.

i started 2 think about the animal
ex. i was eating a hamburger, and i pictured a cow running into a field, then geting chopped up
ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
thoughts like that made it so everytime a eat meat, even i peice of pepperoini, makes me throw up.

Health reasons
I'm adopted and dont know my family health history so I decided to use precaution and become a vegetarian.

religious reasons which include belief in non violence

there was a pig slaughter house between my house (and school) and the town we lived beside. when my class would walk into town to sing christmas songs or go to a play or mass we would pass the slaughter house. i don't know how many people know, but pigs scream like little kids when they are being killed and the smell is suffocating. needless to say, i never ate pork, bacon or ham. it developed from there.

I'm sorry for the animals, I feel we are not paying respect to poor people in Africa for example where they feed the grain to animals so "we" can eat them, I don't want to make animals nor people suffer for me and why not if you can find everything (nutrishious stuff) in vegetables, soy and legumes/nuts?

im vegetarian since 3 years, my reason, for the sake of poor and innocent animals...my husband too is vegetarian....
