What vegetarian items would you want at a fast food restaurant?!

Question:

What vegetarian items would you want at a fast food restaurant?

To start off with, i would like a sandwich that has more than ONE lettuce leaf. i would like a salad that has GREEN lettuce and not that watery white lettuce. Some imagination and know-how would be nice too. Curious what other vegetarians would like to see out there. Something affordable would be nice too, right?

Answers:
I would love to see vegetarian fast food restaurants, but would still not go to fast food chains that happen to carry vegetarian food.

Many fast food chains own their own slaughterhouses and have the most inhumane treatment of their animals. Do you think a burger becomes 49-99cents by itself?

_____________
“Chickens raised for McDonald’s are crammed into crowded, filthy warehouses with less space per bird than a standard sheet of paper. This overcrowding causes disease, suffocation, and heart attacks” (PETA). “Some breeding pigs raised for McDonald’s live their entire lives in cement stalls, unable to turn around, lie in a comfortable position, or nuzzle their babies. ” (PETA). Cows are typically milked for ten months. During this period of time, they are forced to produce 10 times the milk that they would normally produce to feed their young. Imagine that you were forced to live in a room that is three foot by three foot; You have just enough room for you to stand there, but nowhere to move, or to lie down. If any human were to be subjected to these living conditions, if for only for a moment, it would not be tolerated. This is how some animals spend most of their lives. These are only a few of the ways in which animals are abused in the name of a cheap meal.

There is now way I personally would buy something from these people, even if the fallafal is really, really yummy.

Sorry to be the bummer of your cool question.
:)

How about a great Fallafel? I'm not sure if this is the correct spelling, but it's a great middle eastern sandwich made with ground chic peas, tahinni sauce on flat bread.

My question is what the hell would a vegetarian be doing in a sodding fast food restaurant? Talk about the pot calling the piking kettle black.

I agree with you. Its obvious that very little thought is put into the veggie options-nothing but a white, boring salad at most places. I would love to see FRESH fruit, not cut up crap that has been dowsed with some preservative to keep it from turning brown. Why not have a basket of fresh whole apples and oranges. A salad that had some imagination would be nice, such as mixed greens with radish, kolrabi or beets-not the usual pale tomato slice and soggy cucumber. Some fresh corn on the cob would be so easy, but you rarely find it as an option, even in better restaurants. Rice with steamed veggies would also be easy, but again, is rarely found. Its a meat eating world, thats for sure. I guess thats another reason I dont eat at fast food restaurants, and rarely at other ones. I prefer to cook whole foods from scratch, so I know exactly what I am eating

fiesta rice-yellow rice with corn and diced onion, and red and green peppers

I love this stuff. It has some kind of mexican-flavored seasonings in it.

Fast food restaurants in India offer a full menu of vegetarian options. Few have any meat options. I would like to see a Wimpy's come to America, a fast food curry dish, veggie burgers, fries without beef flavorings (still a sucker for fries).
Dairy is still a big ingredient in Indian dishes though so vegan's would still be left out.

A friend of mine once brought his five y.o. daughter to McD's
an asked her what she wanted to eat. She asked for Broccoli. When told she couldn't have it she threw a tantrum and was screaming for broccoli in the restaurant.

I am surprised McD's didn't get the hint.

I agree with the person who said falafel(I love them).
But yeah, The salads that they have in fast food resturaunts are really plain, like nasty lettuce, and one little cherry tomato.
And the all the dressings that they have are not vegan, some are vegetarian, but still no vegan.
(they should offer olive oil and lemon for dressing... that would be awesome :)
They should have vegan veggie burgers, okay they go as far as to offer a veggie burger at some resturaunts, but the veggie patties are usually something made with eggs and milk(like morningstar farms or something)
I think that the patties themselves should be vegan, and if an ovo-lacto vegeterian wants to add some cheese they should have the option.
ahh it is no use though. I Hate fast food resturaunts!!

french fries =]

i hate that white lettuce!!! i would like something that doesn't involve dairy or eggs in any form - not all vegetarians eat them. taco bell offers refried beans and/or rice as a replacement for meat in ANY of their meals, which is fantastic but i wouldn't eat there if my life depended on it :) that mentality would nice in other restaurants - and not just fast food! quality restaurants need to take note as well!!!

I'd love to see refried beans not made with lean and the vegetables not over cooked.
Have you ever noticed how much more expensive vegetarian food is in comparison to meat? If you get a subsandwich you pay much more than a meateater. I think that is pretty unfair!
