Answers:
I'm not sure, but I read somewhere a few years ago that the meat industry would not be profitable and economically viable if it was not able to sell the other parts of the animal to companies who use the bi-products. I think something like 20-30% of the animal is used for food. That is a total guess.

100%

None of it is necessary.

100% because some people are mean and kill animals like elephants just for there tusks and i think that's just horrible.

Animals are so horribly exploited and overused its pathetic. Every last part of the animal is used, right down to the secretions in their stomachs, used as rennet in cheese. Then, the spent bones, skin, ligaments and tendons are rendered into gelatine (jello) The rendered skins are made into leather. The intestines are used a sausage casings. The bones are ground to make "char" which is used to filter sugar and salt, and it the activated charcoal in fish aquariums. Even the glands are used for medicines (armour thyroid is made by the same company that makes armour hotdogs) The sperm is used in cosmetics (cod sperm was just approved last week as an acceptable cosmetic ingredient. http://www.cosmeticsdesign-europe.com/ne...

We are surrounded by dead animals-even in toothpaste and dorittos. http://www.fritolay.com/fl/flstore/cgi-b...

Its all so unnecessary.

Almost 100%
