Low/no cook vegetarian meals on-the-go? Help!?!

Question:

Low/no cook vegetarian meals on-the-go? Help!?

I'm thinking of becoming a vegetarian. I work 12-hour night shifts on an ambulance, so I'd have to bring food with me. Also, I have limited access to a stove! Anyone have suggestions for low/no cook vegetarian meals?

Answers:
if you have a microwave available to you then there are many options. Just walk down the frozen foods aisle of your local market and there are many options--I prefer the brand "Amy's" it's all organic and delicious! Morningstar also has good options for burgers, 'chicken', 'steak', veggie dogs, and corn dogs. If no microwave, you could always make sandwhiches, PB&J sandwhices, wraps, veggies, fruit salads, regular salads, cold leftovers...if you need help with the process of going vegetarian go to www.goveg.com

I think it's called "fruit"

>A bag of apples and some celery sticks.<

Tofurky sandwiches, check out the Amy's dishes if you have access to a microwave. Just browse around a health food store for meals on the go and possible ideas.

Vegetables are good. Carrots, celery, that kind of thing. Also fruits. They don't really need to be cooked, just toss em in a bag and enjoy while crispy. Peanut butter sandwiches are good too. (You're okay with the word butter being in a food right?)

Try going to Whole Foods Markets. If you live in the US, there's probably one somewhere near you. If there isn't, you probably have some kind of heath food store around you. Also, most plain old grocery stores have a vegetarian/vegan isle.

I have been vegetarian for 5 years and it is the best decision ever. When you go to the store they have ready made salads, with every thing in them, dressing and croutons too, it is very healthy and full of energy. Also the vegetable soup at hand, cook in a microwave for a couple of minutes and it is soo good. When you are in the grocery store, if you go into the fruits and vegetables section they have all the tofu and veggy burgers and hotdogs, they are easy to make. Tofu is really healthy and there are so many varieties to make with it, it cooks fast and easily. If that doesnt suit you than there is always mac and cheese or rice a roni. Good luck.

defibrilate yourself some grilled cheese sandwiches

i dont' know if you'll like this, but you can eat
fruits, raw veggs, nuts and seeds

no cooking, you can prep it in advance and put it in little baggies, and you can eat em when ever you need em.
trail mix, make trail mix, dried fruit

Any kind of salad's great, and require minimal cooking if not none. Also, if you're intending to become go lacto-ovo, egg sandwiches are good too. You can also try tofu sandwiches with chopped celery, carrots, cucumber, smashed pumpkin, and salt, black pepper and dried herbs to taste....a personal favourite :)

Tomato and felafel sandwich. yum! Take a banana because they're more filling than other types of fruit.

I cann't think of anything better than a vegi salad and fruit from the seven different colour groups of the fruit and vegies. The colours come from unique plant nutrients that interact with your body and are sometimes stored in the body. Include each of the colours every day for optimum wellness. Add to that nuts and tofu for your protein. I hope you are an A Blood Group person if you want to become a vegetarian.

There are tons of vegetarian sandwiches you can make or pasta salad with lots of veggies.

Sure, just buy a thermos and take a preheated meal with you. My 12 year old veggie daughter takes one to school-it keeps the food hot for 8 hours or more, if you preheat it really hot before you leave for work. You could take mac and cheese, soup, veggie stew, stir fry, curried cous cous, etc. Just put some hot water in the thermos to preheat it, while you reheat or cook the food you will put in it. Toss in some fresh fruit, crackers, or bread, and some nuts to snack on, and you are good to go. I was a medic 20 plus years ago-kudos to you, I know how hard that job is. I became a cop instead, lol
