Even with all the evidence on vegetarianism, why don't people see the truth?!

Question:

Even with all the evidence on vegetarianism, why don't people see the truth?

There are so many health benefits to becoming a vegetarian, why don't people see the truth, or care? When people think vegetarian, they just think about a bunch of people who care more about animals than people. Aside from the cruelty to animals, there are so many health benefits. With the evidence right there, why is it so hard to stop eating certain food to have better health and lifestyle?

For every piece of evidence you could show me proving that vegetarianism is healthier for you, I could show you evidence proving the exact opposite. It just boils down to personal choice. You choose not to eat meat, and I respect that. I choose to eat meat. We can still respect each other and not force our beliefs upon the other, and the Earth will continue to spin.

I have many vegan and vegetarian friends

Because they haven't proved that it is bad for you to eat a balanced diet of everything. Now they even say it is okay to eat an egg a day even if you have high cholesterol. Most likely if you are an active individual and eat 3 wholesome meals a day- it would just be the morality involved- whose to say a tomato doen't hurt being picked from the vine.

I see your point and I have tried to be a vegetarian before but it is very hard. The flavor is so rich and wonderful it is just hard. You speak of health benefits but what about the easy and healthy protien that millions of people recive from meat. Also humans are supposed to eat meat, I mean just look at your teeth.

Vegetarianism won't kill you. While humans are omnivores they can go veg and not have health problems.
Meat in small amounts isn't bad for you either. The american diet is mostly dairy, meat, processed oils and simple sugars with few vegetables or fruits so obesity is at record levels and getting worse.
I guess the biggest problem with vegetarianism is that meat tastes really good. Most people can't resist it and restaurants rarely offer good vegetarian meals so it can be a difficult lifestyle.

I ask myself this question on a daily basis, too. I do it for the animals, for my health, and for what's left of this deteriorating world.

I've showed my mom and brother videos of animals being slaughtered and though it gives them a brief moment of sadness, they continue to eat meat. As long as they're not being showed the videos, they don't feel guilty. Out of sight, out of mind.

Some people simply like the taste of meat too much. They grew up eating steak, chicken, shrimp, lamb... and after 20-30-40 years, it's hard for them to simply "quit". And some simply don't want to. They believe that animals are meant for human consumption just like some of us believe they deserve freedom.

Some realize their very life is at risk a little too late. In the past six months alone, I've known three older people develop colon cancer, which could have been prevented with a healthier diet. However, their diets included some form of meat at least four times a week (not saying meat is the culprit here but it certainly contributed to it).

The more I read, the more I realize that the necessity of meat and dairy in our daily diets has been shoved down our throats by those very industries. More anti-meat&dairy articles and research have emerged, and I hope more people will listen. I can only hope and pray that more and more people get truly educated on a vegetarian lifestyle.

best wishes

It is easier said than done. Of course it may be "healthier," but a lot of people in this world have religious beliefs and those religious beliefs allows them to eat meat. You can also be healthy as a meat eater as well.... You seem a little unknowledgeable.

Human beings need some B vitimins, proteins and amino acids that only animal products can provide.

Sorry young friend, but we have our eyes in front of our face, like lions, tigers, owls and bears (oh my).

Deer, songbirds and goats, etc. have eyes on the side of their heads... they are prey animals.

A vegetarian diet is by far more enlightened, in my opinion, than a meat-based diet. However, keep in mind that we do need some animal protein in order for our bodies to transport signals between cells, and to promote healthy cellular growth.

People believe what they want to believe. Some people are just set in there ways.,or maybe they get overwelmed by so many changes, It.s a choice.Just be happy in the fact that you have made a wise choice Don't be pushy about it.and respect everyone's choices. hopefully one day they will wake up.but I wouldn't hold my breath....Peace...kitkatz06

Because it is too easy to ignore the truth...Convenience is a powerful "truth".
