How do I become a vegitarian?
I would like to to become a vegetarian, I've done it for about 1 wk. But go sidetracked b/c it took alot to figure out what to eat. I would like more suggestions please. I don't want to look like some vegetarians I know who look like the "living dead." Thanks!

I am so glad to hear that you want to do it right! So many just take up junk food. A well balanced diet is the key. Incorporate beans, pulses, legumes, lentils, and whole grains, such as quinoa, millet, rice, etc into your diet as sources of protein. Quinoa is a complete protein, and is very healthy and tasty too. You can make nice pilafs and salads with it. Make green smoothies with leafy greens such as kale, swiss chard, and beet greens. A salad is nice when its loaded with raw veggies, such as kolrabi, beets, radishes, jicama, snow peas, baby carrots, and other crunchy, tasty veggies. Homemade veggie stock is easy to make, and is a great flavor booster for rice and pasta. Try curried cous cous with some shredded zuchini and yellow squash. Spanish rice is spicy and really tasty. Bell peppers stuffed with rice and baked in tomato sauce are super yummy and very healthy. Learn about nutritional yeast, which is loaded with vitamins and protein, and has a nice cheesy flavor-great as a mock cheese sauce or on popcorn. Rice and almond milk have calcium and vitamins, and are really easy to digest. I make them homemade so I can adjust the flavors and avoid the preservatives. it's easy. don't eat animals.
Get a part time job at a butcher's or go to a slaughter house. That will defenetly keep your mind off eating meat,

I believe it's just no red meat but I've heard that some use the rule that they don't eat anything with eyes.
I think some will eat fish.
Look into tofu. if you can stomach it.. I'll stick to my rib eye and baked potato..lol
Why? Ruining your health for what? Look at it this way - all those animals people are so worried about killing and eating wouldn't even be alive in the first place if people weren't killing and eating them.
then eat only vegetables and fruits.if you miss eating meat, try to make a gluten..it's thier meat vegetable..it's made of a flour..
Just eat fruits and vegetables any way you can think of it.

Id say to get Being Vegetarian for Dummies! I have been reading mine latly and it has really helpt me choose what to eat! I wont spoil all the info but i think its great! Did you know that there are even different types of vegetarians? Im a Lacto Ovo Vegitarian!
Cut down on your meat supply...Stack up on you greens.

Morning Star has some GREAT vegetarian options. Some include, chik'n'nuggets..which are really good..a pizza burger..sausage links..all of this fake meat!! they are really good..i don't recommend the plain boca burgers, however their roasted onion taste really good. Also, you can still eat other foods that do not contain meat, such as cheese and dairy..It is quite easy to become a vegetarian once you get past the whole not eating meat thing, lol
I've been donating blood fairly regularly since I was 18 and a meat eater.
Since becoming vegetarian in my 20's and then vegan later on, my iron levels have increased and I feel healthier. (Am middle-aged now).
Whether you are vegan or a meat eater it doesn't matter. You can still choose to have a healthy lifestyle (regular food, exercise and sleep) or an unhealthy one. Some of the elite athletes in Oz are vegan.
u can eat any kind of food which does not contain animals . i am an vegiterian and i know that in this many varieties are which u will like to eat and many of them r nutritious.
dont eat animals. i've been a vegetarian for 4 years now, and its quite easy. quorn is nice, it is a protein supplement. you can make pretty much any dish you want and change meat to veg. like spaghetti bolognese; instead of beef, use either quorn mince or make it into a sort of veg stir fry. i have loads of fruit salads too.
