I'm thinking of becoming a vegetarian.?!

Question:

I'm thinking of becoming a vegetarian.?

I've thought about becoming one for a while now, but I have a question. Is it better to stop eating meat right away or gradually? Also, what are some good sites to visit about becoming one?

Answers:
Well It depends on the person, some people have to do it gradually, others like me just jump right into it. Depends on your personality, if you are more comfortable jumping into it then go right ahead... but if you would rather take your time, then do that.
You may want to try jumping right in though, If it is good for you, then stick with it. But if it is too hard, then start gradually introducing your body to a vegetarian diet.
Here are some links:

http://www.goveg.com/

Also, if you go to the goveg(or any Peta site) you can order a free vegetarian starter kit (just a little magazine type thing)
but it has some info that is interesting.
Good Luck.

don't do it!!! think of a juicy steak! bacon! yummy!!!!

edit: well you know, don't listen to this other girl, because more animals are crushed to death under those machines used to harvest crops! and what do they do with that meat?? nothing! at least we use the meat! they leave it there to rot! and by the way, animals eat animals too. and plants have feelings too!!! don't eat them!

dont listin to that other girl because animals are dying and your basically eating dead rotting once alive flesh
(sorry)
well honestly its better to do it gradually over the corse of a month because it could make you sick if you quit eating meat all together

i found from experience that it is hard to go from eating meat to total vegetarian so what i did is gave up red meats then chicken and turkey so i was basically left with fish then finally total vegetarian however if you dont like fish you can do it however you like but a gradually slowdown seemed a lot better to me

im a vegetarian and i became one right away ever since watching the documentary "meet your meat" like 2 yrs ago dnt listen to ppl when they tell u its not healthy cuz they dnt know **** just eat tofu instead of the meat GOOD LUCK

dont became a "full" vegatarian cuz u need some meats im ur body if u become a "full" make sure u eat fish

I'm not necessarily a supporter of PETA (the general idea behind their organization is good, but the extremism of some of their campaigns really bothers me), but they have a good site with lots of information for new veggies (www.peta.org). Do be warned that they have a lot of very graphic, violent videos pertaining to poor treatment of animals; if you choose to watch them, they're certainly not sugar-coated or censored at all. The best source for recipes that I've found is www.vegweb.com. Even if you're not going vegan, www.vegan.org has a lot of good info as well.

Go cold tofu on meat if you're comfortable with it. Some people have a hard time giving it up all at once and have to come down gradually. As far as your health, you'll be safe as long as you replace the animal protein with plant protein, though depending on your intake, it's possible that you might experience some withdrawal symptoms. Good luck and congratulations! Going veggie is one of the best choices I ever made.

After doing many studies my self I have found out that it is better to do it gradually some people it takes years to finish the gradually process. One story i read is that a girl first stopped eating fish, then a year later she stoped eating chicken, then beef. And a very good subsituit for meat is BOCA burgures they are really good and they tast like meat.
The morning star brand also makes groung up beef so you can make tacos.spagetti.

Wait!!! Think about it..i mean..the yummy crispy bacon you have in the morning for breakfeast, the yummy steamy chicken for dinner/supper..And grilled steak freshly cooked from the BBQ..Think about it..So..watta you say!?!

Don't listen to gpmarie and sunrise.no offence It's cruel to eat animas. They need to die painfully just for you.How would you like it if someone made you eat yucky food and then they chop off your head and cook you for food. (even though it wont happen)It isn't fair. But at the same time ,you won't be very healthy. You can Vitamin B is mostly in meat but you could eat some capsules or you can make a routine.Maybe every week, you eat at least some meat and the other days you don't. ONe day maybe animals that you eat now will be extinct

I quit cold green beans , but for other people it is easier to take baby steps . good luck;)

Do what you think you are capable of. Obviously, quitting meat (i hope you try to cut out other flesh made/processed products like rennet or pepsin cheese, leather, gelatin, fur, unveggy wines and beers etc.) as soon as possible is the best ethically, but If that is going to be unsustainable then try a more gradual approach. Be wary of plateau'ing though, make sure you don't get comfortable with just not eating beef or a similar situation. And if you are really into animal rights, consider veganism! its the logical step.

The first poster referenced maddox's anti-vegetarian rant. I would address this, but an objective observer should be able to spot the obvious fallacies in his argument and PETA already addressed it here.VVVVVV

i just decided one night to drop all meats (including seafood) so i didnt do any gradual stuff, and im just fine. ive been meat free for a month now and its been really easy. after the first two weeks, i was not tempted by meat anymore. just stop all together. you dont need to gradually stop eating meat. good luck :)

gradual will help you and keep you sane!!! Try the meatless meats! Those helped me along!
