Why do you avoid meat?!

Question:

Why do you avoid meat?

I've been veggie all my life.

I avoid meat because...
it tastes nasty, smells nasty, and there's the ethics behind killing living animals. That's why I avoid it.

Answers:
Well, i eat a lot of meat because i am not a vegetarian...... but i always try to avoid pig meat because i am scared of tape snakes. u Know those things in your tummy. even thinking of it is disgusting. Well i don't understand y people avoid meat.

Oh well at least i eat meat. Hope this helps!!

P.S Well i think it is cruel and i try to avid too. i really agree with you!!! at least i am not the only one that thinks its cruel. and guess wat ??
I am on your side. GOOD LUCK!!

I don't.

i don't avoid meat, i love it and my body needs it.
People need to eat and we also need to cull animals, if you have ever lived on a farm and watched your crops over run by rabbits and seen the rate the cattle eat then you would be part way to understanding that we would not be able to also feed ourselves ,vegetarian or otherwise if we didn't have meateaters.

I'm not a vegetarian but I do restrict my intake of meats because of a genetic propensity towards high cholesterol. When I do eat meat I try and have organic/grass fed.

i'm not a vegant.
meat doesn't smell, taste like that bad. maybe you have some disease in your sense.
your body need meat, whatever it is.
think,if everybody in this world are vegan like you.
there's a lot of meat ,like cow, chicken, fish, shrimp, in this world and all predators are full...can you controll this mess??
we are on the top of food pyramid.and you will never have sin if you eat them.....
and, what kind of etics that forbid you to kill them?
of course you can't kill rare animal, the animal that you only took their fur, ivory, skin, etc

I stopped eating it because of factory farming.

I stopped eating pork and beef meat 15 yrs ago because of healthy problems (acne) and it helped. The truth is I can't it it anymore because I don't like it ... and I don't need it. My diet is good, rich in vitamins, so I don't need to eat pork/beef meet. What is more I don't like killing cows and pigs.

Worked in animal protection and what I've seen (incredible things!) put me off completely.

Meat does not agree with my system. I also think its gross how most animals are mass raised and genetically modified.

poor, poor people dont understand meat.
I laugh at those he eat it, for we will live longer than them!

I avoid meat because it was killing me.
I was physically fit and active, told of an impending heart attack, and decided the only thing I could change was diet. Eight years later and two rounds of medical tests, doctors said I was heart healthy again.

Eating meat causes a lot of health problems, like it causes cancer, heart problems and gives rise to more bodily problems as you age. Far too many caucasians, especially the europeans consume too much meat or make meat the main focus of their meal. That's why they suffer a lot of heart problems and develop cancer very quickly.

Going green is healthier and cleaner both for the internal system and the external.

I avoid it because its full of nasty stuff. People think they are getting healthy protein from it, but they get way more than that! Parasites, bacteria, cholesterol, the diseases the animal had, medications, yuk. I also see no need why a living creature should have to die to satisfy the tastebuds of selfish humans. I love my tasty veggies! I am raising my daughter as a veggie too-she loves it! Congrats to you for being lifelong. I wish I had known the facts sooner-I might not have spent 12 years crippled-I healed when I gave up meat!

I avoid meat because, like you, my senses cannot take the icky-ness of it and I also feel bad for the animales who are killed (especially the way they are killed).
I also do it for health reasons - my family is pre-disposed to a lot of horrible health issues and I think that the only way to avoid it is to have a diet that is good for me - full of vitamins, minerals, and fresh food.
And finally, after researching evolution and animals v/s humans, I don't believe for ONE minute that (physiologically) humans are supposed to consume meat. Our bodies are just not made for it.
There's my two cents. :-)
Peace!

I am a vegan- but a steak smells terrific, lamb tasted great when I ate it. I always figured if you could kill it and prepare it yourself with your own bare hands- you can eat it. Otherwise it is cruel and lazy. The animals will take care of their own populations without our intervention.
But with todays processing being what it is- I do not trust anyone with the handling of my food- the less done to it the better.

i hate the tast of pork beef ect but when i used to be a meat eater i used to love chicken untill i started finding out how the animals are keep and the way they was killed upset me alot. ever since then i cant bring my self to eat meat

Same reasons as yours, and, in my opinion, humans aren't meant to eat meat.. our mouths are that of veggie eaters, not meat eaters.. Please don't send me hate mail!! That's just an opinion.

because i dont need to take a life to live.

I avoid meat because...

Contrary to popular belief, although many still choose to believe, humans are not omnivores. Humans fool themselves into believing that they are omnivorous so that they can eat whatever they want.

Humans do not have fangs, claws or even the natural instrinct of eating a bite out of living animals. Meat are always cook with vegetables (spices are also plants) to taste. Plain cooked meat don't taste good to humans either.

Unlike carnivores, which digest their food and pass it out quickly, humans digest their food slowly and may take few days to pass it out; in the process meat rots inside the body, producing toxics, causing premature aging and diseases.

Humans are naturally designed (teeth and organs structure) to eat fruits and plants.

Don't be a fool yourself and be a walking animals' graveyard.

I don't eat it because I don't like it, the texture is aweful and the treatment of the animals s*cks!!! Also is it not fair for people in Africa and Asia that their grain gets fed to "our" cows so that "we" (western world) can eat them...

Why would anyone want to live like a vulture eating dead carcasses? Meat is disgusting. Think of the poor animals that die to feed someone elses gluttony for rotting flesh. So sad.

(amen to Marine's comment above!)

i avoid it because it's totally unecessary and a living being (or 100 living beings if it's a hamburger) doesn't/don't need to die so i can eat.

why can people stand the sight of raw meat in their refers with the bones and blood and all, and yet get grossed out at the thought of a person eating human flesh? i don't get it...

I very rarely eat meat anymore; I've basically stopped eating it at home because it's proved to be best for my wallet & my waistline. Also, I hate the whole 'meat factory' industry that most US meat comes from, and don't want to support it.

I do still eat seafood and from time to time will buy locally raised, grass fed meat at the farmers market, but only once in a blue moon.

Well when I was 4 years old and lived on a Texas Farm, My parents had our pet pig killed and the next day for Breakfast we had to eat it. I asked if this was Arnold and they said yes, and I am 41 years old and I have NEVER ate Meat of any kind ever agin....I just dont like it and there is so much food out there better for you to eat.

I avoid meat for the same reasons as you, especially because I think that animals should be treated WAY more humanely than they are right now. And I think that if someone wants to eat meat, they should buy it organically (they let the animals actually roam around and see the light of day and... live)

I turned vegetarian at age 12 because of the animal rights issue. I then turned vegan at age 14 once again for animals, but also for my health and the environment.

Well, I avoid meat, eggs, shellfish and milk because it just feels dirty to eat... My parents were not vegetarians but I came to that conclusion myself when I was young, it gave me an eating disorder. I mean..poor little cow...

meat is repulsive.
not wanting to chew and digest things that I find absolutely disgusting, I avoid it.
