Vegetarian?!

Question:

Vegetarian?

Should i become one, what are the pros and cons? I mean i think i should become one because if i don't i'm killing innocent animals. but it's going to be hard how can i do it?

Answers:
I think that vegetarianism is a very healthy diet. For 1 reason, you don't consume as much fat and oils that belong to other living things. It is scientifically proven that most vegetarians live healthier lifestyles than non-vegetarians I also believe that it is wrong to eat meat for 1 basic fact that you are murdering. As bad as that sounds, everyone that eats meat is a murderer, and i don't mean that disrespectfully at all. As funny as it sound, when a butcher kills a cow or pig...you have to realize that he/she is killing another animal's sister, brother, mother, father, cousin, aunt, etc...Plus I know you must have heard this many times...but how would you feel if someone was killing you that brutally so they can keep their tummies full? Makes you think doesn't it?

I have been a vegetarian all my life...but some of my friends are thinking of being a veg too so this is what i tell them...if ever you feel like eating meat..then carry a photo or sticker from PETA...that says fish are friends not food or something...if you want them...check out PETA2.com and order them. Just looking at a sticker or an animal in pain will drive away your craving! I know that it is a big step to take...but now a days there is "fake meat". It is actually tofu made by the Bhuddist monks of Nepal (i think). It tastes just like meat and you can eat it with a guilt-free conscience. If you want to purchase that..then go on PETA2.com and you can order the food. Or for the week you can ask your friends to be vegetarians with you...that way you can have fun and it won't be too hard.

wELL, it ur choice )

ive been a vegetarian since i was five. I didnt like eating animals, and im a lot healthier because I'm a vegetarian. It's a plus-plus situation!

OMG... GET OVER IT! You PETA people drive me crazy!

pros are u lose weight in a health way
and when u get old say 40s or 50s ur skin would still
be smooth, but u need to eat fish or something to get u'r protein

try eating meat that was humanely (sp?) raised and butchered. Local meat markets in farming communities are a good source. AND they don't use as much BS in the animal feed as do large commercial growers.

don't become a vegetarian. instead a more simple plan is to only eat free range meat. Free range animals are allowed full lives before they are killed so unlike the meat you probably are eating right now they aren't confined and fed drugs that cause them to grow faster to be killed. free range food is a more humane solution that is morally correct.

Well i'm a vegetarian and u should because ur right u would be killing animals see, u can be more healthier stronger and fitter but if u eat only veggies u may also miss eating meat i was just born as a vegetarian i think u should but its ur choice and its true why kill something if u cant give life to it again i mean wut if someone killed another person how would u think that person that got killed feel?

Well if you're going to do it, you need to make sure you are doing it right and getting enough protein. Let me warn you, soy, tofu etc is pretty gross, but if you don't eat it, you may be malnourished. The pros are that vegetarians generally live longer and are healthier. For me though, it's not about killing innocent animals, its about the WAY in which the animals are farmed and killed. It's animal cruelty at its worst, but unfortunately animal protection does not apply to farm animals-what kind of a society do we live in!? My advice it to become a lacto-ovo-vegetarian so that your diet will include eggs (buy free range) and milk. This will help with eating enough protein.

if you choose to become a vegitarian always make sure you get your protine and iron from things like nuts beans lentals ,tofu dried fruits such as dates some people give up most meats and only eat fish and eggs. It also depends if you want to become a vegan or vegitarian if you choose vegan you wont eat cheese eggs milk ANYTHING that comes from anyimals if you choose vegitarian leaves options open such as cheese and eggs and milk. if its something you want to commit too it will take self controll. hey but none said you couldnt try iot out for a month and if you dont like it you can alwasy go back. becomeing a vegitarian isnt a permanet decsion. if you switch back just dont go meat crazy lol :)

pros:

- no excess fat from meat

cons:

- not enough protein from meat
- hard to find veggie burgers and hot dogs that actually taste good
-missing a lot of vitamins from meat and fish

so... i think they're more cons than pros. its pretty much up 2 u, but if i were u, i wouldn't become one. just eat a little bit of meat, just so u get ur protein and vitamins in, and all the other stuff you eat could be other non-meat stuff. but, like i said, its up 2 u. good luck!

Vegetarians do live longer, and, are healthier.............as, you can directly give yourself a disease from a cell from meat (hormones etc.). and other reasons too many to mention here.

It does take imagination ..., but you can replace almost every food product with vegetarian cooking...for instance, I keep 3 containers in my fridge at all times, (fantastic foods)..really inexpensive....one hummus, two taco filling, three, re-fried beans, (these foods you can add to almost everything.

boco burgers are delicious, lots of frozen veggies, turnip, butternut squash, wholegrain pasta....

the sky is the limit...if you use your imagination...!!

best wishes, and god bless your sweet heart

I think you just need to ask yourself the following question. Why have i been thinking of becoming a vegetarian? Most likely you are a compassionate person, and you are really starting to consider the cruelty animals go through to be our food. Of course, there are other reasons folks go veggie besides the animal ethics issue.

Biggest Pros----healthier living, saving lots of animals

Biggest Cons----creative cooking, recipe hunting, learning and researching about the lifestyle.

*As you can see the pros far outweigh the cons.

You ask on the veggie section if you should become vegetarian? Well. Of course we will encourage you to become vegetarian beacause we love animals and feel healthier than when we used to eat meat. It really changes your view on life.
It is really great that you have come to feel compassion for your little friends that should not suffer.
There are only pros when it come to leading a vegetarian lifestyle. You have to educate yourself on how to have a balanced diet:

The planet is becoming more and more vegetarian friendly. It is very easy to be vegetarian in North America because of all the great variety of vegetarian food that we can find in supermarkets. In Eastern Europe tofu is considered a delicacy. Then again this is your choice. I am not sure why you think it will be hard because Most people I know just jump into it and never look back.
If you need support and want to educate yourself on vegetarian diet, try to hook up with the vegetarian association in your city. Try to also discover the vegetarian restaurants in your city by browsing:

For children and adults at risk of early heart disease, the low-fat and high-fiber vegetable and fruit content of vegetarian diets may help reduce blood cholesterol levels and the risk of heart disease.
Cons:
Diets that include few or no animal products may be low in sources of complete protein, vitamin B12, vitamin D, calcium, and zinc.
