Is pectin vegetarian?!

Question:

Is pectin vegetarian?

is it like gelatin? made of fish bones and stuff or is it organic? Pectin that is.

Answers:
Yes, pectin is 100% vegetarian. It produces a jelly like texture in foods just as gelatin does. Unlike gelatin though, pectin comes from plant-sources.

Pectin is what is most commonly used in fruit jams to make them set. A few of the cheaper jams you get at the supermarket are set with gelatin though.

carrageenan and agar-agar also work the same way. these are produced from seaweed.

Pectin is a heterosaccharide derived from the cell wall of plants, so it's organic!

Pectin comes from fruits as far as i know
