Vegetarian!!!!!?!
Vegetarian!!!!!?
im a veggie and i need a good diet outline to get all the nutrients i would from meat...also do you think its ok to eat fish??? thank you!!!
Answers:
Well, i eat a lot of meat because i am not a vegetarian...... but i always try to avoid pig meat because i am scared of tape snakes. u Know those things in your tummy. even thinking of it is disgusting. Well i don't understand y people avoid meat.
Oh well at least i eat meat. Hope this helps!!
P.S Fish is not a vegetable. So if you are planning to eat a fish then you (well in my opinion) is not a vegetarian. You also need the B vitamins, vitamin K, and a few others that aren't available in vegetarian diets.
A good multi-vitamin/mineral supplement will help.
Eating whole grains and a good mix of all kinds of fruits and vegetables will also help.
Err... Fish violates the vegetarian "law". You could eat eggs or cheese, and other dairy products.
Vegetarians don't eat fish, sorry. =[
Make sure to take vitamin B12 supplements and get good protein from nuts and stuff.
Speaking off, I'm gonna go make my self an organic PB&J sandwich. ^^

Has A LOT of information. The types of vegetarians, what you need to eat and stuff like that. Even how to win an arguement with a meat eater!
Great choice on becoming a vegetarian. You will have a lot of energy if you do it properly. =]
People don't realize how much **** they pack into their bodies.
If I ever stop being vegetarian, I'll only eat organic meat, which does NOT taste good, in my opinion. =x
Good luck!
Fish is not a vegetable, so if you want to eat fish you aren't really vegetarian.
Meat and animal products provide protein that most vegetarian diets don't, so you need to eat protein-rich foods such as beans, lentils, nuts, whole grains like rice and quinoa, etc.
You also need the B vitamins, vitamin K, and a few others that aren't available in vegetarian diets.
A good multi-vitamin/mineral supplement will help.
Eating whole grains and a good mix of all kinds of fruits and vegetables will also help.
fish? hmmmmmmmm
Ummm Well just eat a lot of veggies and take lots of vitamins and also don't eat gelatin most people don't know that it is made from animals and No i don't think that it is ok to eat fish they are animals too.
well no u cant eat fish, but hemp nuts are a great alternative to fish seeing how it has complete plant protein, omega 3,6,9's, and there are many ways of eating it. hope this helped
Why do so many "vegetarians" think eating fish is ok? So the fish is not a happy little thing before you come, kill him and put him in the pan?????
You can eat fish, but please do not call yourself a vegetarian. Vegetarians do not eat dead animals.
When I decided to become vegetarian, I did research. Check out the vegetarian food pyramid online. Eat a variety of whole grains, veggies, fruit, beans, nuts etc.
If you consistently consume fish or other animal flesh, you are not a "vegetarian" by definition since vegetarians do not consume animal flesh by definition.
Nutritional info--
Take a good multivitamin supplement ("good" means it has at least 10,000 mg vit A as beta carotene, 50 mg of each of the B vitmains etc, etc --not One-a-Day or Centrum) .You need vitamin B-12 something not present in vegetables. You need omega 3 fatty acids (found in fish) so take Flax seed oil.
Proteins are not complete in the vegetable kingdom. You require all 8 essential amino acids at one time. But grains (wheat, corn, rice) only have 7. If you only consume these 7 NONE are utilized--you need all 8 at once to get any protein. Legumes (Beans) have the missing protein. Thus rice and beans or pasta and tofu (soy) etc must be married together to get your protein. Be aware that all forms of soy including tofu, soy milk and soy protein powder cause a lot of gas. Only Tempeh (fermented soy) does not cause gas. One solution for a nutritional boost is to do what they've done in India for thousands of years--include milk and milk products (cheese, yogurt) in your vegetarian diet. If you can balance grains and legumes (beans, lentils, peanuts, tofu etc) and make sure you are getting B-12 and omega three fatty acids as well as plenty of calcium, a vegetarian diet is very healthy.
If you want to ensure you will get all the vitamins and protein without hassle you might consider a nutritional protein shake powder with vitamins such as "Alive" and drink a nutritional shake each day.
Hi! I've been a vegetarian for all my life, so I'll try just to indicate the important foods you have to eat to gain up on the protein you would have otherwise gained from meat.
Definitely beans, lentils and other pulses. Nuts, grains to gain up on protein, and leafy greens (spinach etc), chick-peas etc for a good iron level. Some vegetarians take iron supplements, but I myself don't, and I have a perfect iron level, but for some it is needed, esp. if you change to a vegetarian diet drastically. Of course, you should include all you fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and make sure you are getting enough carbohydrates, protein, fat and vitamins too.
To answer your second question, I myself don't consider it's ok, because then you aren't really a vegetarian. I don't eat fish because I go by the 'not eating poor slaughtered animals' ideology, so... Plus, if you eat properly, you won't lack of any protein from fish.
I really hope I helped, I'm not a professional, so I apologise for any mistakes!!! Good luck with your progress! =] xx
If you eat fish, you're still consider Macrobiotic Vegetarian.
Vegetarians who don't consume animal products can meet their need for essential amino acids by combining plant foods that together provide all the essential amino acids although each individual food is missing some of these essential nutrients. The goal is to "complement" plant sources of essential amino acids, or to consume complementary protein sources from plant foods regularly.
Some combinations of plant foods that provide complete protein are:
-rice and dried beans
-rice and green peas
-bulgur (wheat) and dried beans
-barley and dried beans
-corn and ddried beans
-corn and green peas
-corn and lima beans (succotash)
-soybeans and seeds
-peanuts, rice and dried beans
-seeds and green peas
The easiest way is to drink 1~2 servings of vitamin fortified soy milk daily.

Vegetarians that eat fish are called Pesco-vegetarians.
Include beans and nuts in your diet and that will take care of your protein intake.
I am a vegan (15 years) and have recently spent 3 months eating tuna/salmon/sardines because the oil in the fish repairs damage to dna caused by ultraviolet damage. The veggie source of omega 3 and 6 is linseeds but it is not the same because it has to be converted by the body.
Think about what YOU want to eat. So many people choose to be vegetarian or vegan because its "cool" when really they need to think about what they feel compelled to eat, what their particular body needs.
If you want to eat fish, or feel that fish is right for you, eat fish. Don't worry about whether it conforms to a standard. Our diets are what make us, so don't get trapped into thinking you have to fit inside a box.
After 15 years of being vegan I have learnt that there are times I need high protein and times when I don't. There are times when I need more fat and times when I don't. Listen to your body to help "read" its needs. Your body knows what is right for it at any point in time.
Do your research and think about your needs rather than follow a specific diet because it conforms to all the "rules".
FISH is not a vegetable.
eat vegetarian egg, and milk & milk products and that is the limit
Eat a variety of "whole foods," with plenty of beans, nuts, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. Avoid unhealthy foods like trans fats, which are usually listed as partially hydrogenated oils. Deep-fried foods often contain trans fats. Choose margarines that use nonhydrogenated oil, like Earth Balance or Smart Balance. Although a diet consisting of Coke and French fries is technically vegan, you can't be healthy if you eat nothing but junk food. Vitamin B12: Vitamin B12 is produced by bacteria, and some experts believe that vegetarians used to get plenty of this vitamin from bacteria in drinking water. Since drinking water is now treated with chemicals that kill the bacteria, it's important to make sure that you get enough vitamin B12 from fortified foods (like most brands of soy or rice milks, some breakfast cereals, and many brands of nutritional yeast, also eggs and milk) on a daily basis or by taking a sublingual B12 tablet of 10 mcg per day
Iron-beans, dark green leafy vegetables (like spinach),whole grain breads, Also eat something with vitamin c when you eat something with iron, it increases absorption
Calcium-dark green leafy vegetables (spinach, broccoli, soymilk)
Protein-Isn't really hard to get, just eat a variety of foods, good sources are beans, brown rice, nuts, whole grain breads, soy foods
Omega-3 fatty acids-flax seeds/oil,walnuts,canola oil
Zinc-pumpkin seeds (best source), beans and lentils, yeast, nuts, seeds and whole grain cereals
Selenium-Brazil nuts are a particularly good source of selenium, so try to eat a couple every day. Eating a small bag of mixed unsalted nuts can be a convenient way to get your daily selenium intake, but make sure it contains Brazils. Bread and eggs also provide some selenium.
Vitamin D- Vitamin D, often called the sunshine vitamin, is another common deficiency in those not drinking vitamin D fortified milk. Synthetic vitamin D is added to both cow’s milk and most brands of soy milk today.
Vitamins A (beta carotene),C, K, E and Folate-variety of fruits and veggies
Iodine-Iodine is a trace mineral that's important for healthy thyroid function. Table salt is the most common and reliable source of iodine in Americans' diets. (However, sodium in processed foods usually does not contain iodine.) If you don't consume table salt, you can get iodine from a multivitamin or from kelp tablets.
cool your a veggie, I am not and I don't have to take any supplements I am not saying meat is better but I am saying that the combination of meat and veggies. In my point of view fish is wrong to eat as a veggie because it is not considered meat also fish oils are very good about raising good cholesterol
For the most part your question seems to be answered but I didn't see one thing mentioned so I will add it. Plant proteins are not complete proteins so you have to combine different ones to complete the proteins.
Try looking online to find what to combine with what for complete proteins, but soy completes most other proteins, and many meals you're used to eating are combined already, by human instinct or something.
Hope I helped a bit, and good luck.
