Veg Breakfast!?!

Question:

Veg Breakfast!?

Whats a simple and but good veg breakfast? Everyone lets hear your favorite please!! thanks

Answers:
I have two favorite breakfasts.

one is Biscuits and Gravy (get fake sausage crumbles for a SUPER yummy gravy) This breakfast is quicker and simpler than it sounds if you use Pillsbury pop-em biscuits and make your gravy from a package. (I reccomend country style or white with pepper, but you might have to check ingredients on a couple brands until you find one without any meat products)

The other is scrambled tofu with tortillas. FInd a good scrambled TOfu recipie. I like it "southwest style" Simply eliminate the chopped peppers and onions you'll find most ST recipies require, and when the tofu is almost DONE... add salsa. THen eat it with a dab of sour cream (or vegan sour cream) and tortillas! YUM!!

I also like a hearty breakfast of fruit, cream of wheat (with honey, milk/soymilk optional) and toast with jam.

no breakfast is complete without plenty of Orange Juice. Should be a national law.

Vegetarian for 17 years.

Smoothie - get some orange juice, kiwis, pineapple and mango liquidise it. Yummy. Or perfect boiled eggs with toast soldiers

The simplest thing: Cereal with milk. (Yes ovo-lacto! =]) Or like, very rarely, bread with spreads and jam. And noon snack, a sandwhich with cream cheese and veggies and a red apple. Yooou?

Are you a total vegan??
Roast Veg Omelette, Roast veg on toast with rocket leaves & olive oil, tomato with herbs - put in oven with cheese over - eat with toast......MMMMMMM......hope this helps!!

You can make a YUMMY omelet with vegetarian egg substitute. Add crumbled up veg sausage, onion, chopped Romano tomato, green pepper and veg cheese. Delicious!

A simple and good breakfast is eating bread or water, or milk.

Eat a bagel and call it good!

My fav is Hash Brown Potatoes loaded with cooked veggies, bell peppers, onion etc.
The same idea works with Cooked rice too.

I love hot quinoa with cashews and berries, with a little agave nectar. I also love cream of rice and oatmeal. Fresh homemade almond/rice milk smoothies with banana and fresh berries is great for nutrition on the run. I have a magic bullet blender that gets a regular workout. My favorite thing for breakfast though, is raw radishes. I love them icy cold and crunchy. Thats what I have to get me going as opposed to coffee.

Fresh plain toast (toasting bread increases the vitamin C content to about 3 times) and a glass of blended vegetable and fruit juices. (Invest in a good juicer)

It's a quick and easy, very healthy and light way to start off your day. You feel clean and healthy inside and look great outside.

Kashi Oatmeal (I like the vanilla Go Lean with flax) and a banana is a fast and healthy breakfast. When I want to eat something resembling a fast food breakfast, Boca makes a breakfast wrap that is made with egg whites, soy sausage, peppers and onions and it's very satisfying.

a fruit and yogurt parfatti! Hecka yummy and healthy! Andthen, there is always the veggie breakfasts like fried potatoes with onions and peppers all on a skillit!!!

yougurt, with a bowl of strawberries and peaches, a toasted with cheese and some orange juice...ummm, i'm hungry now

porridge with any fruit added on top (my favourites strawberries) quick and yummy! If i have some time to spare then omelettes are always good too (cheese, onion, mushrooms and tomatoes) with either toast or a tortilla wrap and ofcourse ketchup!!! :P

What a dumb question.
Most people dont eat meat for breakfast anyway.

Bananna with peanut butter or nutella on it! Tastes great! Or make a fresh fruit smoothie- put fruit (like strawberries) and ice in a blender. Really simple but really good.

oatmeal and orange juice with toast

There are many kinds and brands of tofu and safest way is always to call up the company and ask them about the ingredients if you are not sure. Once you find the right kind you can easily stick to it. But tofu isnt the only source of protein, there are about 20 different kinds of beans out there, you can replace it with on some days. (it gets boring eating only tofu, also it contains much fat)

As far as I know all kinds of soymilk that I tried, (but thats just about 3 different brands really) are suitable for vegans. Again, if you're unsure contact the company.

There are vegan sites that make good suggestions about what to eat, and what to avoid, so do some googling. :) There are vegan communities online if you dont know any other vegans, and many of them have been vegan for a long time, and will be able to answer the trickiest questions and give you many culinary/lifestyle ideas.

Dont worry if you make mistakes in the beginning with ingredients or anything else. Veganism isnt about perfection, but compassion. You will learn planty. It can be tricky at first, because you'll have to find all the new foods (like all kinds of grains) that you maybe didnt eat before, but once you learn it's really easy.

I think it's possible to gain weight (although it didnt happen to me) because of the propaganda that vegans are not eating healthy or not getting the right nutrition. (you can easily obtain calcium from green veggies) And then its easy to scare yourself and overeat. Also, there are many vegan/vegetarian processed foods loaded with fat and sugar, which is bad for you, even though it is veg*n. So dont have too much of that. Remember you CANT gain weight if youre eating healthy. But you cant lose it either if youre getting tons of calories without burning them.

Eat raw fruit and berries instead of vegan candy, as often as you can.
Choose whole grains instead of white flour-bread.
Choose vegetables over vegan fastfood. Raw, oven-baked or steamed or in soups.
Use organic coldpressed oils like canola and olive in food, but not too much.
Plain potato chips is vegan but not healthy.
Beans, beans, beans...

:)

I'm sending you a link of a cool vegan podcast to download, that brings up healthy eating. ("the vegan health show" is a very useful part, but its all really great and fun) I also pasted a link to some great tips about healthy veganism from Vive Le vegan.
