Vegetarian gas?!

Question:

Vegetarian gas?

I have been vegetarian for about a month and have a lot of offensive gas. Is this permanent or will my body adjust?

Answers:
You'll adjust. You're body is just dealing with all the new fiber its getting. When I became a vegan I had a lot of gas for a while but now my I have the healthiest stool I've ever had.

Beano.

Well, it's probably not going to change, sorry. But there are medicines out there like Beano, that change the way your body processes veggies into a less offensive process.

Ugh. broccoli farts are the worst

When you first go vegetarian you actually will detoxify, and that will produce some nasty body products... It depends on how you combine your foods also. If you eat things like bread cheese and vegetables then you will have horrid gas. The reason; that your body has to produce different stomach acids to digest all of those. So one of them gets under-digested, and it rots through your stomach and produces gas. Try to not mix breads and veggies, or dairy and veggies, also fruit should mostly be eaten alone.

I too have dealt with this issue and according to my situation I suspect you are over relying on soy for your protein source. I suggest mixing it up. There are several other forms of complete protein including spirulina, hemp seed, and quinoa.

Also Try making your diet have more variety, including as much raw food as your body can adapt to. Just keep working the problem and have hope. I believe this too shall pass. ; )

depends on what you are eating that is giving you the gas....I suggest you keep a food journal so you can find out which food is giving you this problem. Oatmeal gives me this problem, so check it out so you can relieve yourself. : )

yes it will pass-- give it some time, your body is adjusting to your increased fiber intake
