Why does the world slaughter animals for food?!

Question:

Why does the world slaughter animals for food?

This doesn't make any sense???? Why???? How could we do this ????

Answers:
Why do vegetarians slaughter plants for food? We need the plants to produce the oxygen that we breath.

I eat meat and veggies, but my point is sound. We all eat meat and veggies because we have to survive. IT's a part of life. It's called the food chain and the circle of life.

I am a vegitarian too. and i am and indian.

i don't know why they do it

We have to stop it!

Well, probally the first people to kill an animal found it as a threat to themselfs so they killed it. I'm not sure what happens after that but they ate it.

Hope this helps.

so you got some meat to eat

don't know, but the amount of land that is taken up by raising livestock is astronomical if this land was instead used to grow crops and veggies we could feed the whole world and on a much healthier diet as well.jo

Guess what? That is me question to. Why can't they slaughter them at least humanly if there going to do it. It makes me sad that people accually treat animals like that. I AM A VEG!!!!!!! yay me

dear radhika
you need to understand that we need proteins in our diet and red meat ,and all of the nutrients that we get from animals, I am so sorry that this disturbs you, but mankind has been eating red meat for millions of years,it started so far back in time, even apes ate red meat, unless you are a vegetarian you have also consumed flesh of slaughtered animals,

because their yummy for my tummy

because people have been killing animals for centuries and won't stop even though nowadays we have plenty of alternatives to murder. most people think we have the right to and most meat eaters are desensitized to or ignorant of the cruelty that the meat industry makes a business out of. sadly, a lot of those people probably wouldn't care even if they knew. or people think since they're not the ones actually physically killing the animals, it's ok. it's extremely sad, and a problem that is not easily fixed at all. i'm glad i'm not a part of it.

True...it does not make sense...but think about this.
Majority of the people in world (probably more than 90% ) are meat eaters. If all of these start eating grains, there will be an acute shortage of food supply, rising food expenses, scarcity...draught like conditions....and prevalent HUNGER. Imagine the situation and be happy that most of the world likes animal food....a respite for veggie lovers....

Because man is a meat eating species.

In the beginning, because we needed something to eat.

If you look in the bible... in the beginning... in Genesis something... it explains that before Eve ate of the forbidden fruit, the world as her and Adam knew it was perfect.... animals and humans were at peace with another and humans ate only from plants and fruits and veggies. THEN, after she sinned, the whole idea of a PERFECT world was pretty much gone and her actions changed everything... including humans eating animals. CHeck it out. DOn't just listen to me... see for yourself. If you believe in God, that is.

Come judgement day, you'll see what the bible is talkin bout.

Because people are made to think that meat is good for them...

Man does not eat by veges alone

Humans have lost their mind.......Disasters served them right......They find excuses to eat meat saying they need to survive.......actually we can survive too without meat.....imagine another new species eating us humans also for their own food....?

Some people are in a primitive prehistoric "hunting" phase and so some people keep and slaughter tame animals and place them before the predators (if they go to the grocery store) so they can get their "protein" without hunting for their neighbors.

I don't know. But, why do animals "slaughter" each other for food? Is your cat evil because it caught and ate a bird? Is your dog going to hell because it killed a squirrel? It's just the way things are.

Cruelty and ignorance.

Reports suggests that vegetarian is better for our health and for the environment (see link to Times report). Animal nutrients can be substitiuted by plant but the opposite is not necessary true.

Many more people could be fed if the resources used to raise cattle were used to produce grain. In the US, livestock consume 70% of all the grain produced. If the grains were used to feed people instead, less would go hungry.

Before you kill an animal, did you ask it if it wants to be killed and eaten by you or not? All living beings desire to live. We wouldn't want to be eaten by a tiger or a shark, so why should animals be eaten by humans?

cuz people are lazy.
