Becoming a vegetarian??

i was thinking about becoming a vegetarian because i was watching this show on how they make the meat and cut the animals and so on and now i was thinking of becoming a vegetarian. the problem is im a big meat eater! i love ribs, burgers,etc. i was thinking of becoming a pescetarian so i can still have fruit, beans,wheat, dairy and fish, so im not changing my whole menu. But what can help me avoid the meats?

This is a temporary scare. You'll become desentized to it within 3-4 weeks. Sit down and really justify how come you want to become a vegeterian. Health, religious, social-econonmic, morals. Just being scared will not last long.

Go on a detox cleansing system for about a week.

Stick with your current diet, changing your diet isn't going to change anything, except your craving for what you want the most as an animal, which is meat...

But, I will kindly take your concern up with the steak I will be having this evening, however, it will most likely be a one sided conversation.

Don't become a vegetarian or a vegan, just reduce the amount of meat you consume.

I'm about 75% vegetarian and ~%25 carnivore. And it varies mostly with a reduction in my meat eating habits, but I won't exclude meat entirely from my diet and neither should you.

Besides if I go 100% vegetarian I get diarhea.

u culd like chew on gum or suckers or something. im a big meat luver 2 but i h8 watching peeps prepare it. i just think its soooooo gross. anyway, i dont think just cuz ur disgusted by it u shuld stop eating it. i wuld NEVER stop eating meat no matter how disgusted i am.

What I had to do, was do it in strides. Just like smoking, some people can quit cold turkey, some have to use the patch to slowly get off nicotine. I also did it in strides. I started off with no pork for about 2 months while still eating everything else. Then I quit both beef and chicken at the same time and only resorted to seafood. Then I slowly got off seafood as well.

Trust me, you dont want to put all that fat, cholesterol, and strain on your body. Meat eaters have a 400% increase of their chances of obtaining colon cancer, have a shorter life expectancy, more obese, less endurance, more hypertension, among others and a higher chance of getting heart disease (#1 killer in America)

I recommend, if you cook, to get a good vegetarian cook book for you to go and look over. There are some great dishes that are tasty and filling as well as nutritious. You can also just google Vegetarian dishes and you'll get a lot of sites to help you

Its fine to go pescatarian as a stepping stone-you may or may not choose to go full veggie later on. Think about meat for a minute-if not seasoned and cooked properly, it tastes boring. Its the seasonings added to it that gives it its taste. Try breading some okra and portabello mushrooms and cooking them the way you would cook meat. Its really easy when you get that the flavorings are what make it or break it. Veggie kababs, brushed with bbq sauce are just as good as any meat kebab, without the cholesterol and other unhealthy stuff in meat. You can grill a portabello mushroom and eat it just like a burger. There are many meat substitutes out, such as boca burgers, quorn, sausages, etc. I dont eat them because I dont think the ingredients are healthy, but many people substitute them for meat. Good luck, and remember that food is a personal choice. You will get nailed on here by some of the veggies who say you MUST not eat fish, but pay no mind to them. Eat whatever makes you happy. second - fake meats are a good way to get your craving without anything dying needlessly. . .altho some of them are not very good there are several that are yummy --- morningstar riblets (even my children like those)

when i first cut out the meat i would just make my regular meals without meat. . . cobcorn, barbeque baked beans, cole slaw, green salad, wheat bread -- that will fill you up & you won't even miss the animal

increase your bean intake - that will help fulfill your nutritional needs very easily

you can find really good & easy recipes online if you search
experiment with a variety of cultural foods -
mexican (you can always substitute refried beans for meat)
indian - ethiopian - caribbean

dont be afraid to try new things & just picture those same animals that you saw. . . you'll be veggie in no time!

I am thinking of becoming a vegetarain too, because i know how they torture the animals. I would be able to easily give it up, if it weren't for the cheeseburgers! But I say go ahead and try, just wean yourself off of meats. But after you are a total vegetarian, make sure you get enough protein in other ways. I would reccomend getting a couple good vegan cookbooks for good recipes and healthy alternatives. And good luck!
