What's the effect of being a vegetarian?
Answers:
A decrease in the risk of heart disease and diabeties because you take in less fats and cholesterol (unless you are sitting around eating doritos all day which would be dumb anyways). So a healthier heart.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in americans....we consume tons of animal products. In countries that do not, risk of heart disease is very low, as well as diabeties.
And a healthier level of protein intake. Most Americans get too much protein, almost double the recommended daily value.
(Oh and because someone earlier was saying you get unhealthy, you can actually get every single nutrient your body needs from plants, *needing* meat is a myth says my biology professor (a dr) ..and well anyone else educated on the subject.)

not good.
i'm an animal lover but i've also accepted the fact that I have fangs for a reason. Because I'm supposed to eat meat. If people want to not, that's for them but you're missing vital nutrients and vitamens that a pill won't replace

most vegetarians get fat because of all the soy products they consume to substitute meat. You would think it's not bad for you but soy is very hard for your body to digest and it puts the pounds right on because its very dense.
I mean they feed starving children in africa soy and other beans for a reason...you can eat a little and get a lot from it.
I also personally think that most vegetarian products and organic products are hypocritical...especially soy products because the largest producing countries of soy are all pretty poor and 3rd world and our american consumerism has exploited their people and profited off of something that africans and so forth should be eating and keeping for themselves
From what I have seen, your skin becomes white and shiny, and you eyes tend to sink into your head, you're not seen in the best restaurants and you don't smile a lot. Apart from that the effect probably isn't much different from ordinary people as long as you eat properly.
I can't speak as a professional, because I'm not. But I have been an ovolactovegetarian for over two years. What I've noticed in my own life is that I have just as much energy as before, I haven't lost weight (in fact I've gained a couple of pounds), I am no longer taking blood pressure medicine, and I enjoy the challenge of coming up with new things to eat...and things with which to entertain. My friends are often surprised at some of the veggie meals I have prepared.
One of the reasons I chose vegetarianism is the effect of the cattle industry on our environment. I believe that if everyone in the US were to reduce their red meat consumption by even half we could have an incredible affect on our natural resources...including the rain forests, the water tables, etc. And all the grain that we raise simply for cattle could be used to help feed the world. That would be a pretty satisfying effect.
hmm, effects....
I am not fat from soy, I am not skinny like a skeleton, I am not shiny, I have great skin(it is light, but I have always been like that, even as a MEAT-EATER). My eyes are not sunken in... I go to whichever restaurants I want, I can't speak for anyone else but I don't have "fangs" fangs are for vampires, and maybe tigers or something. I have regular teeth most of which are shaped like an herbivore's... I smile all the time :) right now for example...
I am happy, healthy... and I don't eat rotting flesh, I would say that I live a very good life.
It effects everyone differently. I lost weight but I am still nice and curvy, I have more energy, I can run faster and longer, I don't get that tired feeling after eating meat (because it takes a lot of your bodys energy to digest!) I don't spend as much money on groceries (we have a garden to eat from which is very cheap in the summertime!) I feel good about not eating meat in this day and age because so much of it is from sick, diseased and unhappy animals.....I am very happy with all of the positive effects it has had on my life and all of the animals lives! : )
For some people, they basically just get kinda tired at first. Obviously, it includes a change of lifestyle and they do tend to be a bit healthier, as they can't eat the more popular unhealthy items. However, the differences, besides the lack of meat, are few between vegetarians and non-vegetarians.
Hope this helped!
I am not a vegetarian (yet, but I am considering it) but I have tried for 40 days eating only vegetables(no eggs, no milk, no meat, no fish). The effects were that I have lost weight( the others told me, because I don't mesure my weight), it felt strange at the beginning. It is a little frustrating, but your mind is in peace, because it feels right. I have felt very good all the 40 days. The others didn't understand it. Anyway, I would become a ovo lacto vegetarian, also because I am denied in kitchen.
One more thing. Be carefull! After these 40 days, eating meat made me fell really sick, I almost threw up. This why I am considering being a vegetarian.
When I tell people I am vegetarian they typically don't believe me. I look more like a healthy biker than anything else. I am not fat, nor thin. I have a goatee which I guess people equate with manliness and meat eating.
As a professor of sociology I find it fascinating how people judge others without knowledge of them.
I will not eat meat again, unless someone pays me a million dollars (just decided that price on another question). It was killing me, I am much healthier without it.
lower risk of heart disease and cancer
